What about June

if the dolphins miss out on Arrington should they try to sign Cato June

Cato or one of the many other Free Agents out there, the draft may fill that need, we will see!

Who cares, he's overrated anyway. He's undersized and can't take on blocks. I'd rather not have him.

He's a good player. Small and fast, but not right for our system. He's the perfect LB for a Tampa 2 like in indy.

He's a RFA with a 1st round tender I believe.

And Miami doesnt need a linebacker that small.

what do you mean exactly? Tampa uses 2 LB schemes?

I think when he meant "tampa 2" he was referring to their style of defense, cover 2.

Yeah, it's a specific style of Cover-2 Defense.

It uses smaller, faster coverage linebackers who drop back into zone coverage behind a fast, penetrating D-line.

That's not Miami, guys. It's distinctly different from the zone blitz that Dom Capers likes to use.

June's not worth it.

The problem is that June was given a tender worth $1.55 million. If made him am better offer and the Colts decided not to match it they would get compensation in the form of a pick. The compensation pick for June is a first rounder. Though June is good, he is not better than what we could get at sixteen in the draft.

Now, it is possible to work a deal where we give them a different pick, i.e. the Redskins trading a 2006, 3rd round pick and a 2007, 4th round pick for Brandon Lloyd, eventhough compensation for him was also set as a first rounder. However, the Colts seem pretty high on this guy and I don't see them giving him away when they could keep for the $1.55 million.

Here's the links showing the compensation picks for other restricted free agents incase you're curious (and lazy). None really stand out as a deal to me, though I was surprised Seattle gave the Vikings a 3rd for Burleson.

Cato June is not an option even if his size would fit in to Sabans scheme. He was tendered a RFA contract of $1.55 million. Meaning the Fins would have to give up a 1rst round pick.

A side note to any interested, Robert Mathis was tendered $2.069 million and would cost a 1rst & 3rd round pick.

Edit: Sorry for the exta post, PSMITH types faster than me.

Too small?

No Miami fan should ever claim a linebacker is too small. Look at the guys who have built this franchise and the guys who star for it today. What are you talking about?
