What about Larry Coker as Head Coach?

I haven't really seen his name mentioned yet but he seems like a very logical fit. He is also one heck of a good coach - he has owned my alma mater, FSU! Maybe Wanny can take over at UM and I would be double happy!:D
 
There were not too many people who thought he could not be a good college coach because of his low key approach .I think he has reached his pinnacle as a coach.Why would he want to go to the Pros.?
 
He hasn't won anything yet. His NC came from Butch Davis' team and aside from lucking out against FSU three of the last four times (02, OB, 04) he hasn't done a ton nationally.
 
To my knowledge, he has lost to Ohio State once and Virginia Tech once. Not too shabby in my opinion. Also, he appears to be able to take over a talented team and lead them to the promised land...sounds like a great idea to me!
 
38-3 and he hasn't proven anything? 1 NC, 1 NC stolen, and a top 5 finish while sending 19 1st rounders to the pro's and he hasn't proven anything?

Coker is a bad fit

Forget looking at Collegiate coaches...they should stay within the league
 
Coker doesn't impress me at all. Every time he talks to the media or his players he looks like a weak old man to me. I'm not saying he doesn't know football, but I can't imagine depending on this guy to motivate players.

Hmm, really? I guess you are unaware that Coker coached Dorsey for 3 years? So, Coker won 3 dozen games without Rix's help.

And he hasn't had Butch's team the past couple of years. The players we have now are Coker's. The 4 1st rounders were Cokers. So, saying he can't coach is ignorant. Wait till Wright starts for all of you Rix won the UM vs FS games haters.

As for him coaching the fins, NO! Leave the man at UM. Let him coach UM to greatness year in and year out. He's a lifer. Let him coach at UM for the rest of his life. Don't mess with UM to see if Coker can coach pro.

Like I said earlier, this would be double joy for me. The Fins get a great coach and the 'Noles might actually pull one out against UM!:D
 
Larry Coker is a great college coach but i dont think he wants to leave heaven which is UM football. Steve Spurrier is going to be the poster child for college coaches when they think about the leap for a long time.

And to the poster who said he has done it with butch's talent, Why isnt Mack Brown winning with higher recruiting classes? or Bobby for that matter.

NEVER! haha. You guys are always right there, I just hope we keep winning now that we are in the ACC.

I just hateed when JJ left, then Erickson left, then Butch left, I don't want to keep doing that. I think Coker stays, he likes the kids and not the BS about the pros, cap, money, egos, etc.

I would only go college if that coach had some pro experience, like Pete Carrol or someone.
