What about Sage. I'm not talking about this season, but for the future. Sage will have all season to learn the new offensive scheme and get comfortable. Sage is not young but he's not that old either. Now that the coaching staff has been upgraded, maybe they can bring him to his full potential. Sage has shown us glimpses of a good QB but has never been consistent, nor has he had the chance to be consistent. I'm very pleased with the outing that Gus had against Denver, and if he stays consistent then he is the obvious choice for this year and maybe even next year. But Gus is not the QB of the future for the Dolphins. Sage is young enough to five us 5-7 years considering the limited abuse his body has endured. If Sage can show the coaches that he could be the QB of tomorrow, then Sabin can use next years draft to sure up other areas of the team that could use depth.

This is just a thought. Does anyone think that Sage could be better than he has or as Sabin would say it "he is what he is".

We might need Sage to play this week?...He is the back up...I think we will be fine with Sage...I think he's better than people think he is for sure...I would definately hang on to him....Who knows...Maybe Gus goes down early this season and Sage has a great year and we don't have to worry about drafting a QB...Of course...I would like to see Gus stay healthy and make the Pro Bowl again.

I always liked Sage. I think if you give him a few more games at the helm, he would do well. He played a little last year but he was trying to empty a flooding basement with a thimble.

At some point the Dolphins need to draft a QB and groom him.

christ. i hope we cut sage in the offseason just so i don't have to hear about him anymore.

I think the curiosity surrounding Sage's potential is warranted due to the number of wasted years he spent on the bench under Wannstedt. He has always performed well in the preseason regardless of system...whether it was Spurrier's Fun and Gun or Norv's deep passing attack. There are many receivers who have complemented Sage on his arm strength and touch, but I think it is even more impressive that Sage seems to come into each new offensive system and absorb it quickly.

As to what will happen this year, judging by the game against Denver, I don't see Frerotte all of a sudden regressing, so Sage will stay on the bench until Gus is injured or we are mathmatically eliminated from playoff contention. I wish there was another way to give Saban and Linehan a good look at Sage in regular season action because that's really the only way to accurately judge him as a potential starter. Either way, I believe the coaching staff knows that Feeley is not the answer, so a QB in the draft is a probable outcome. Let the rookie come in an compete against Sage for 2nd team snaps.

Sage's body has had limited abuse for a reason... he hasnt been been good enough to crack the starting lineup for any team. How long has he been in the league now? And, its not like he has always been held down by Wannstedts love affair with Fiedler. He wasnt a starter in Washington, and when he became a free agent, no other teams came running. I dont think Sage is any more the future of this team than Frerotte is, so we need to draft a QB. If Sage miraculously gains tons of talent in the next year or so then great....we have some excellent trade bait. We just shouldnt limit our options by counting on a miracle.

and by the way......its Nick Saban :)

Sage is a good backup he could be a good QB if he took some snaps other than perseason snaps. IMO we should look at grooming him and see what he looks like after some time with these coachs he could be better than most think.

Go Dolphins:rawk:

Sage has showed that he can play if given the oportunity. But of course if Gus plays like he did last week.... But i do believe we will be bringing in a new qb next year.
