I think this kid more upside than Chris Long, he is probably faster and more ready to be and OLB. He also gives the option of playing DE in the 4-3 so we could transition into the 3-4 next year.

i like him but as a michigan fan i dont want two buckeye first rounders in back to back years......that being said i wouldnt care at all if we took him honestly

Gholston IMO is not consistent enough to pick #1. Upside and Potential are not good words when using the #1 pick.

Obviously Gholstons stock is going to rise after his combine workout is over.

I think he is in the mix to be our pick, his workout could make him a player someone would trade up for.

I'd rather hear somebody say upside and potential, than motor, and it's howies son, when talking about the first pick.

boomer says theres rumors flying that both are on the radar, I pick VG

Do you use the first pick for Gholston...when in two years all he could get is one sack against J. Long? Do you use the first pick with C. Long...when a raw tackle like Otah held him to a stand still in their game? Both are good players...but not great players....do you use the top pick for a good player...or the safe pick.

He only got 1 on Jake Long... but he doesnt rush from the right side exlusively... so that can be somewhat deceiving...

He is contantly moving around. For instance, he got 3 sacks against Michigan, but only 1 came against Long...

So it wasnt like he was going up against Long the entire time and only got 1 sack...

I fully expected his hype to go through the roof at the combine and there to be 10+ threads on him. He is a great athlete, but not a great football player IMO. Still prefer Chris Long.

use it on jake long #1.

thats my first choice, barring a trade.

than it's gholston. I think the original poster was only trying to reference against chris long.

Gholston absolutly is a great football player.

He was considered a top 5 pick before the combine...

Being a Buckeye fan I would love to draft Gholston. Did Chris Long play just DE or did he ever play OLB as well. I would rather have whichever one played both positions the most.

I disagree.

Some places had him Top 5, alot didn't, its all a matter of opinion.

+1

It's easy to be swayed when a freak specimen like VG puts up crazy number. You just look at the guys body and you can tell he's an athlete.

Chris Long on the other hand is a football player! And I'd muth rather have football player with a non stop motor then just a guy who can put the bar up 37 times. I think it was Herman Edwards who said, "After the combines you need to go back to the tape cuz it's easy to be tempted by a guys numbers at the combine"

if this was a triathlon team then I'd take VG.

I was a large supporter of us drafting Dorsey, but Now after hearing about his tibia problems I'm swaying more Towards C. Long as my first choice and J. Long as my second.
