Yes the money can be rolled over, but with the projected increase in the next couple of years to the cap space it is almost pointless. With that said, it is always good to have space in case of cuts or in season moves.
This also could be the organization preparing for down the road as Tannehill is still on his rookie contract and possibly looking to carry some money forward for the next year or two so in 2016 they have money to resign him to a new contract with out killing the budget.
Thats if Tannehill is franchise. IMO the jury is still out on him. This is the last year I'm giving him.
IMO we need to sign Clay to a long term deal NOW before he becomes really good and ask for a hell of alot more , because if we dont get him signed this is just whats going to happen , and if we can give Odrick an extention , go for it but Clay for sure..
Based on the new CBA, teams can rollover their cap space but, much more importantly, MUST spend 90% of the salary cap over a 4 year period. The rollover does not matter much in this regard. No matter how teams play it, they still have to spend the money.
I can't imagine why any team would choose to not rollover the cap space, as they have to spend it anyway, and it adds options on how and when to do it.
We are good shape with the cap because we gave away players for drfat picks like Vonate who would otherwise be needing contracts
This is not good business
Picks are not sure things
SPEND but on GOOD players
