What would it take (and is it even possible)? to get Scott Pioli away from the Pats. Pioli will never get top billing as long Bellicheck is the top dog. They have won 3 superbowls...it is perhaps "stale", who knows, whatever..but is there a feasible chance that we could lure Pioli away and give him the keys to this ship?. Yeah, I know about "loyalty" and "friendship"...but as we are all seeing in the NFL....Money talks, BS walks.

With the hiring of Pioli we could get a young and upcoming coordinator who could 100% concentrate on the coaching job at hand. I think this is our best chance at turning this around. I am very fearful of a "high name" retread.......and the thought of Dom Capers (a two time NFL Head coaching loser) getting the controls scares me.

We are in a bad spot. I think the bigger issue is getting a top GM who can evaluate talent rather than getting a "name" HC. Yes this is all 100% speculative....but first things first, do we even have legal grounds to talk to Pioli or is his contract so tight that we can't even talk to him?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

We already have a GM in place and his name is Mueller. He help to build the core of the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints. If given the opportunity he can do the same thing here.

How do you know Scott Pioli doesn't mind playing second fiddle to Belichick?

Well, I would not feel so comfortable being Mueller right now seeing as his name was NOT even mentioned yesterday as being one who will hwelp lead us in a new direction. Second, I don't know at all if Piolo doesn't minf playing seconf fiddle to Bellicheck. Any logical person would think that someone at his level would want "to be the man"....just throwing it out there...who knows. I don't think Randy Mueller was anyting but a figure head here with Saban....perhaps that will be different now.

Where did this whole "Let's get Scott Pioli" stuff start? What indication do we have that he actually wants to leave New England, going to a divisional rival in the process?

Pioli or bust

IMO, anything short of Pioli will be a mistake. Here's why we can get him:

1. I think Scott and Bill's relationship has weakened a bit since his name came up after Wanny dismissal (see, 2 yrs with Nick was just a stop gap until we could get the man making it happen in NE) .

2. Think about how much money we were outlaying to Saban and assistants that should all go away. Give Pioli a BIG CHUNK of that dough. Enough that he can't say no and let him assemble a young, probably inexpensive coaching staff.

3. Give him all the power. Wayne loves to have one direct report...there you go.

4. Scott would be loving life staying in the AFC East where he could prove first hand to Bill that he is a stud.

BTW, how much fun will it be in the AFC East with Mangini, Belichick, and Pioli going after each other for the next bunch of years.

So Wayne - go get your man and sit back and relax

There is NO indication of this. It is PURE speculation on my part. Just a thought I was throwing out. The man is a very well respected talent evaluator who has had a large role in building the NE Patriots to three Superbowls.....however, he undoubtedly is forever in the shadows of Bellicheck...PERHAPS, he may want a new challenge, (or a new scene)...a ton more coin...nicer weather, hotter and thinner women.....whatever....but it was a thought. Certainly a more pleasant thought than some of the innanity I see on here discussing the likes of Bill Parcells and Jimmy Johnson. Dont ya think?

I like the idea, I just don't know how feasible it is, theres nothing to indicate he wants out of NE is there???

My thoughts exactly................It can't be a matter of coin......at this point, we should at least look into this. It would make things so interesting in the East. After witnessing this Saban debacle over the past 48 hours, there is NO loyalty in the NFL. Money talks. Everyone SADLY has their price....And I am sure Pioli does too.

You can't win the lottery if you don't play....I hope the Dolphins brass at least consider this.

Well, I haven't heard anything.....BUT.....the landscape of the AFC east is a whole lot different now with this Saban debacle. There is now a prime job available with a owner who is a jewel to work for....What's the worst that can happen...he can tell us to "F-off"....so what...but this has to be our line of thinking BEFORE hiring a retread coach and giving him carte blanche with this franchise....at least I hope.:boohoo:

I agree, plus he's young enough he might actually stick around more than 2 or 3 seasons like JJ, Wannie, and Traitor.
