That's a simplistic and untrue statement. This year good defense beat good offense in the Superbowl, its not always true or a rule.

The NFL is about matchups, sometime offense wins, sometimes defense wins.
 
I think we nail down a big name olinemen, Albert or Monroe. I think we get another oline starter either tomorrow or in the next few days as well. Sproles is tempting based on his knowledge and what he could bring to the Dolphins in experience, have to wait and see what he is asking though. The problem with Byrd is I doubt there is a team other than Seattle that isn't interested in him so he is going to have a heavy price tag.

I fear most of all that Mcfadden goes to the Patriots and in doing so turns things around. I'm not saying he is someone we should go after but he tops the list in my opinion of the guys who have the potential to be acquired for a little and lands up way overplaying his contract (He has the talent we know).
 
Albert signs

Dolphins land a Starting OG to shore up left side of line (draft a versatile lineman in draft bc of this, Zack Martin would be great at RG)

2 long shots:

a) Dolphins lock Jairus Byrd 5 yr 45 mil with 24 mil guaranteed

b) Dolphins land Darren Sproles to help in new offense run by Lazor

Edit: (PIPEDREAM)- Dolphins trade this years 2nd, and next years 3rd to Bucs for Revis
 
Albert seems to be the obvious signing.

My surprises:

1) Zane Beadles
2) Geoff Schwartz
3) Randy Starks (people seem to be resigned he isn't coming back) - He's simply great at his craft and has been carrying his lunch to work for many years without a hiccup. Losing that type of consistency destroys you're entire defensive chemistry.

I think the Dolphins intend to let Starks and Soliai walk if they don't lower the money demands, Obviously Odrick blossomed and I think they really like AJ Francis and the other young DT's they have. I expect another DT to get drafted at some point as well.

It would not shock me if the O-line gets enough attention in free agency that they go DT in round 1. Aaron Donald or Timmy Jernigan, but I really think Zach Martin is the pick if he is there.

I see cutting Patterson as a reality we sign bird,

my predictions, of course is Albert, Delmas and Beadles,

my long shots are Byrd, and Ben Tate

Why? If they do sign Byrd them extend Patterson and offer his salary as a bonus. IF and I know it IF Patterson can stay healthy a defensive back field of Grimes, Patterson, Byrd and Jones would be a turnover machine.
