...concern you the most? Is that group of men our weakest link in the offense; will Miller have a sub par year carrying the rock because of the line? Post anything/everything you feel about our OL as of today. Thanks guys for your input.

Assuming Albert is ready and the line is Albert/Turner/Pouncey/Thomas/James the thing that concerns me most is run blocking. But basically, it all concerns me until I see that our guards are really NFL-ready and that Pouncey is in condition and that Albert is fully fit and that James has taken his run blocking to the next level. It all concerns me, but I'm not ready to top myself yet.

Definitely the guards, don't know what to expect there. I don't think our oline is in as bad of shape as people think though, and I've heard from draft experts there's gonna be some very good inside oline prospects available in the middle rounds. I wouldn't be surprised if both our 2015 starting guards aren't even on the roster yet. And if that becomes true or even if we get 1 starter in the draft or where ever than our oline looks a lot more formidable and dare I say deep? Albert's health is also of concern, which is why I wouldn't be opposed to us drafting Scheff or Collins at 14 to be a starting guard/emergency tackle.

Starting guards and more depth behind Albert....his age/injury worries me a bit. Hope there is no residual effect of this injury. However, we can solve the o line concern in the draft as far as I'm concerned.

Well we have no good guards and health questions at LT and C ... so there are a lot of options!

Normally, I would say Albert's health. He is our best lineman and was playing very well, but his age and missed games every season from injury are very concerning. If we do make the playoffs, we can be fairly certain he will miss them because of injury. That is a problem for me.

I'm not as worried about Pouncey's abysmal performance at RG last season because I recognize that he was injured and missed all of the preseason while playing essentially a new position (in the pros) while recovering. He does not have a worrisome injury history and has proven to perform at a high level at C. My only worry about him really is how much will it cost to sign him long term?

But our guards ... that is a problem. Generally guards are the meat and potatoes of a run game. Ours suck. Against strong defenses like the Bills and Jets, they were non-existent.

IMHO, if Brandon Scherff falls to us, we need to pull the trigger. He is going to be a very good RG with position flexibility all across the line. He can single handedly create a run game and make DC's revise their game plan because of him.

Our RB's are either quick into the hole or have a little power to break arm tackles. .. but not both. We need a guard to blast open holes or we become one dimensional for 4 division games each year. And going all pass against Revis will not be fun.

Of what we have, I've been saying since his draft day that Dallas Thomas sucks ... yet he still played ahead of Turner and that truly scares me. I hope Turner improves, but right now he looks like a Ferrari without wheels ... and as enticing as that can be, it's not going to get you to work.

Yeah, we need to stop drafting OL projects and start drafting technicians who can play now.

Health - experience - depth.

Health - Alberts

Experience - Thomas and Turner [but from the glimpses I saw of Turner - I think we'll be fine come mid season]

Depth - is Fox the swing tackle, who's the back up guard - even Thomas as the first off the bench at the guard spot would concern me and Center, I would like an option to be in the fold should Pouncey move on next year - and considering the salary he may command I would prefer that they do work to a longer term solution for Center other than Pouncey - RT's next contract could drive this last point.

I just want to get a vibe regarding this issue. Please keep posting. Thanks all.

I think run blocking will be a strength it was last year and now we are plugging in Turner who we all know is a great run blocker. The question with him and Dallas for that matter is the pass protection. We have to replace Dallas

The middle 60% is concerning. Turner unproven, Pouncey playing pedestrian last year, and a huge ? at the other guard. James is fine at right tackle and assuming Albert is healthy the left is fine.

Every guard we have is a concern and our depth at tackle

What concerns me is our guards. At the start of the year last year, our OL coach was doing a great job and you could see a VAST improvement in schemes and the ability of our line to get to the second level. At the end of the year, they had regressed substantially and were no longer getting to the second level near as often. From what I saw, this was primarily due to the guards inability to handle a 1-on-1 assignment and players could not be "passed off" as easily for one member of a double team to get to the next level. Just because a guard is "not letting guys through", doesn't mean they aren't affecting the blocking schemes in a very bad way.

I'd say the biggest question mark is Billy Turner as he's the only player we haven't seen much of. I think Dallas Thomas can develop, get a little stronger in the offseason maybe he can be adequate. I don't think we need probowlers across the line. Not many teams have that. Seattle won a superbowl with a Guard nobody here wanted. I think our QB needs to get better at pocket awareness and escapability. If an olineman gets beat, our QB should be able to recognize it and make the adjustment by either getting rid of the ball or evading the sack.

Miller Averaged like 5 yards a carry last year, I'm ok with the run blocking.
