Finally what I have been saying for a long time.
He said.
"The offense needs to be built from the inside - out. Starts with the center, in SD we have a pro bowl center. Then the QB position, SD has a 1st year QB who is a pro bower. Then the Fullback, SD a old fullback who is a pro bowler. Finally a RB who not only is a pro bowler but the MVP this year."

Another note is that he said we need a 2 RB system to be successful to finish the game or your going to run qb in to the ground.

I like this hire. All the knock of him not being successful at indiana is crap because who the hell is successful at indiana, it like coaching football at duke. Those are BBALL school

Edit: I meant your going to run your rb into the ground not the qb. You have to keep your rb fresh throughout the season. He told the reports that they have no idea how a RB feels on monday mornings. You have to have 2 rb so their body can last and play effectively.

This offense has been such a patchwork the last couple of years no wonder we kick fg all day. We need to build correctly and I believe cam can do it. He believe in youth from what i see from the chargers offense.

Agree wholeheartedly about the inside-out comment. One gets the feeling that Cam understands very well that our problems actually start with our under-productive offensive line. Prepare for significant changes at Center and one of out top two picks being spent on solid G or C IMHO.

The two back comment is interesting. Just speculating here but that does that mean either 1) The prospect of Ricky coming back is to Cam's liking and this is a hint that he is a big fan of the RB and Ricky combo or 2) It really means that a #2 back will be had in the draft and maybe a top draft day priority?

For the record very pleased with this selection. OMG it appears we came waaaay tooooo close to getting Gailey or Mora! Thank goy Wayne got his head on straight and listened to whomever advised him that Cam was the better way to go!

I thought Hadnot would have a great year at C, but as the year went on, he struggled at C. I'd like to see Hadnot remain a starter whether it means him going back to RG (where he was very good), or LG and cutting Jeno.

But I definatly see us drafting two O-linement; one being a LT, and the other being a G or C.

He is absolutely right about building from the inside out. Games are won in the trenches. Our defensive line is still very good, the offensive line is still pretty bad. I've been wanting to draft a good young center for a while now, if we could trade down and grab Ryan Kalil from USC I would be pretty happy about that.

I never was a big fan of moving Rex to C form RG. It was a miscalculation on Saban's part. IMHO he needs to be moved back to RG. Prediction is to see a lot of new faces on the OL next year and Rex going back to his real position.

we need a bigtime LT that's our biggest weakness on the line.

I know why Saban made the move. McKinney struggled making line calls, and getting off the ball. Saban's first year, Rex was making all the calls as a RG, when McKinney got hurt, Hadnot did alright as C.

I also think part of it had to do with the rest of the interior line.

I loved it when he said The object of the game is to score, "unlike saban clapping everyplay like a girl scout goin for 3 instead of 7" I love this hire Offensive minded baby!

Well that is right the whole interior line left a lot to be desired. Mc Kinney was not doing that well either and the injury forced some type of change regardless. What the move exposed is how little depth we actually had. Injuries certainly did not help either. Rex sometimes held his own but I saw some penetration up the middle at the point of attack and not enough room for RB or Morris to run through up the middle especially as the year wore on.

If we draft a C, would Hadnot move back out to RG where he played in 2005? It worked pretty well with Ronnie and Ricky running then; obviously a new center would be the upgrade over what McKinney was in '05. Thoughts on Hadnot??

Is it LT or C? We need a dominating center - Hadnot is not dominating. You have to be able to create a pocket for the QB - you can't have rush coming through the middle like we always have.

Dominating LT means trading up to get Joe Thomas, I really don't think this is that good of a class for tackles overall. As far as centers, there's more top quality in this draft. Personally, I'd like to see a C and move Hadnot back to G.
