~ Aristotle"We are what we repeatedly do."
Ronnie Brown is quietly (and quickly) becoming one of my favorite players. His strong family-oriented character becomes apparent when listening to him in interviews. He comes from the small town of Rome, Georgia. His family did not have much money while growing up. Ronnie even has an extended family, with whom he is very close, albeit, a white one. A little unheard of in the deep south back in his day. Just by listening to his interviews, it is obvious this young man is genuine and is of good moral character. Nick Saban, in my opinion, hit a home run with this pick.
Though Ronnie shared the load in carries last season with Ricky Williams, it was quite apparent early in the year that this player may end up to become something special. In only his third game against the Carolina Panthers, he rushed for 132 yards and scored his first TD of the year, and averaged a whopping 5.7 ypc on only 23 carries! Ronnie finished second only to Cadillac Williams in rushing yards amongst rookies. He also became the first running back in Dolphins history to rush for over 100 yards in a game as a rookie. But all of this most of us already know.
You are probably wondering why Aristotle is quoted at the top of this analysis? I have come across these statistics on Ronnie Brown's 2005 rookie campaign and noticed something: Ronnie gets stronger as the game winds down. Some neighsayers will point out that he has not carried the load at either Auburn or Miami as of yet. I say "GOOD!" That's less stress on his body. They think he will succumb to the sophomore slump. Here's what I think: We have yet to see what Ronnie Brown has to offer. The stats, though from just one season, tell the story.
So, what can we expect from Ronnie Brown in 2006? Barring anything detrimental (I won't say it), I expect him to open the eyes of NFL fans and players. Some analysts are already mentioning him as a top-10 back, but most have not even taken off their biased shades. They will find out soon enough how special this player is. He is an extrememly likeable person. He will soon become a well-liked football player.
*If you check out his second half stats, he obviously not only gets stronger in the running game, but in also the receiving. One glaring note: his fourth quarter fumbles. When he was at Auburn, he did not lose a fumble. In his rookie season, he lost 4 of 4. Hopefully, this was just the rookie jitters.
