With puzzling moves throughout this past week, many fans have been wondering just what is going on in South Beach. The Miami Dolphin’s front office has been showing fans lately that the team is in a rebuilding mode, which most fans are concerned with. Fans are consistently asking themselves, “What could be up Miami’s sleeve?” Many believe that Miami’s defense is just too talented to waste through a rebuilding period, so what is going on?The answer: Miami wants to build a strong future through the draft. Take a look at some of the best teams in the NFL. The Patriots, Steelers, and Packers have two common themes; they build through the draft and they rarely ever shell out money to big name free agents. These teams consist of players that fit their system and contribute in limited roles. Plain and simple, the front office in South Beach is “taking a page out of their playbook” and drafting a strong nucleus. http://phinphanatic.com/2012/03/20/what-could-be-up-miamis-sleeve/

This article is right on....that's the way Ive been seeing things...the only problem is most fans want to win now, and in reality that is what is setting us back.

Lets presume that everything would have went the way most fans wanted....lets assume Brandon Marshall was still here and Peyton Manning signs with the Dolphins, I still do not beleive it would have been enough to get us to a Superbowl.

With Marshall getting in trouble, that would be a distraction in itself. Peyton Manning, as good as he is, has been out for a year, sure he looks like he can throw right now, but he has yet to play the game at full speed. Also, when Manning won the superbowl, there was way more talent on offense then what the Dolphins currently would have, even with Marshall on the roster.

I am just glad they are going this route and starting to be the nucleus

In to agree with you before the win nowers come to pounce

If we're rebuilding after all this time doesn't this mean Jeff Ireland has been a failure thus far?

I think that most people want to win now because with the exception of 2008, for the past 8 years, there's been nothing but losing!

A big reason for that is because we haven't took adequate time to rebuild, just constant desperation signings, no real concerted effort to rebuild, if we don't do that we will continue to lose for 10 more years

Until the draft is complete you can't say they are rebuilding. Right now there is no evident plan or direction.

My beef with Ireland is that we have wasted too many picks on bad and gimmick players. Bad trades. The players that have remained a good, but not great. A some point, he has to find us some diamonds...every year.
Frankly, I think the plan is a good one, but Ireland and Peterson's influence on Ross is causing the process to take longer than it should.
By the time we finally get our franchise QB, the current nucleus will be in the sunset of their careers.

Right...And unfortunately, waiting for Manning to dump us (even though is was evident as hell) cost us a good chance to sign a FA or two that could have really helped our team. So now that Ireland has painted himself into a corner, he did not leave himself any leeway come draft time. He is going to have to pull out one heck of a draft to show the fans that there is some kind of method and plan in place.

I want to be optimistic and give him the benefit of the doubt, but it is awfully difficult to do so. I still love the Philbin hire and like the coaching staff he has in place. So, I have to believe (really, really hope) that Philbin is completely on board with what has transpired so far, and that as "the process plays itself out" we will be able to sit back and say that it makes sense. Right now, not so much.

You can't help with so many years of major disappointment that its going to effect the best of Fans...The Fins are to some people one of the most extreme emotional outlets in there lives....

Every Fan wants to win now, but in all reality because of the state of our team and at minimum the questionable architect building the structure, expectation should be realistic and I'm afraid we have to look more toward the future and should accept the fact so that we at least have a shot in the future...we have little choice

afraid the only thing up Irelands sleeve is his arm.........

We may not be rebuilding per se, but the original rebuilding project clearly went sideways which means we're still rebuilding.

And installing a new offense. With a rookie HC. And the GM from the first rebuilding project.
