What defensive rookie will have the most impact?

Our defense has a rotation that will allow our two rookies Langford and Merling to see significant playing time in our revamped D. So which of these two do you think will have a bigger impact on our defense. Each possesses a different type of skill. Langford is more of a run stopping DE he is a monster and should have a impact in stopping the run game. And Merling has improved in his pass rush and can be used as a DE or a OLB i personally don't know which will have a bigger impact since our run D was so weak last year i think Langford is a big key to turning that around. But Merling is the guy to get pressure on the QB and ruin the pass game.

So Dolfans which do you think will have a bigger impact?
 
Merling. The guy will be the best defensive player drafted this year in the entire NFL. Although he may not come into his own till 2009.
 
Are you talking about this week in particular or in general?

I think Langford has a more impacting game (v the jets) since he is starting and Merling is playing behind Vonnie. That being said, i think both of them do big things in the very near future. Its so exciting to have young players come in and look great immediately.

I remember when we drafted Langford i was a bit dissapointed as i had never heard of him. But for him to come in and win a starting spot outright is very exciting. I can't wait for this regime to have another draft or two under their belts... Its gonna be exciting to watch this team.

i really like them both but i see langford having the bigger impact right now. but merling will have a solid season this year
 
Langford will have a very big impact this season, he is strong against the run and he collapses the pocket to get pressure on the QB as well. Langford is a prototype DE for the 3-4.
 
Can't really pick merling over langford or langford over merling at this point.
 
Langford and Merling late into the season when he passes holliday in the depth chart

doesn't hurt that he's the only LB on the Bengals roster (and I'm being serious here, outside of him, the Bengals have guys that would make people miss Tommy Hendricks and Derrick Rodgers)
 
i personally think Kendall Langford will have a bigger impact as a rookie on our Defense than Merling,and that's because of his run stopping ability.
