Just wondering what people are expecting out of Cameron Wake. Remember that although he is not a rookie he also hasn't seen NFL speed. He will probably be a situational player but also an important player on a lot of downs. In an NFL game the average QB throws about 25 to 30 passes a game (except for high passing offenses where QB gets about 35 to 40 passes) So I'm expecting 22 to 28 plays a game for him. That's 352 to 448 total plays for him in 2009. I'd say something like 50 tackles, 5 sacks, and 1 or 2 forced fumbles would be what you could expect. I am basing that on the stats that Mario Williams got his first year (47 Tackles, 4.5 sacks). So unless he has some AMAZING breakout year I'd say he'd be along those lines.

30 something tackles 4 sacks

i wouldnt really expect much out of him, specially next season. Roth is likely to start and play more then him, though he will be a pass rusher. Id look for him to be in the Charlie Anderson roll, except get more pressure and maybe rack up a couple more sacks.

i would think most his tackles come on special teams though.

I think you pretty much summed it up. While he may end up winning a starting job, I think it is more realistic that he will see spot duty backing up Porter and Roth. He will probably be like this year's Phillip Merling. While not a "starter", he will see plenty of time on the field. With a four year contract, he doesn't need to be rushed into things right away. He will contribute, but to think he is walking in and becoming a full time starter is expecting to much. I think he was brought here with the thought that he could become Joey Porter's eventual replacement down the road.

100 tkls., 23 sacks, Pro Bowl, All-Pro. Aim for the moon and you might hit the earth. Aim for the stars and you might hit the moon.:D

Probably about 53 tackles, 6 sacks. That sounds about right to me.
add on about 2 more sacks to that, and about 6-7 Passes Defensed...with a FF or 2...but i think ST is where we'll see just how badly he wants to make the starting line-up as an OLB...

60 tackles....8 sacks....3 forced fumbles......2 Interceptions 1 for TD....and a SPARE

1st off I think he backs up and is a "relief" guy for Porter (in all probability).

If so, I expect 20-30 tackles ( 3-5 of those tfl ) on run def, 3-5 sacks, 1FF and 1-2 passes defended.

I think he also starts on ST's and gets another 12 to 15 tackles, 1 blocked FG, 1FF and 1FR.

If we can get 5-6 sacks out of him, that would be a very successful season to me.

Situational pass rusher. Will more than likely just come in on passing downs.

Can we see the guy play before we start having a ton of expectations for him? I mean seriously, the guy has never played in the league to my knowledge. Who knows what we will get out of him.

What kind of contract was he given? That should be indicative of what his market value was. That should give us a sense of what NFL FO's think he should be able to produce. Lets see this guy play first.

Honestly, I dont remember seeing the guy play in college. Im sure I did, but it was several years ago so I really dont remember.

Why did he not play in the NFL initially again? Lets settle down on this guy already. Some of you are acting as if we shouldnt even draft players at his position because he is such a lock to be some kind of impact guy.

I expect him to spell Porter and Roth, but also be the 4th down lineman on passing situations. Stats, I'm not expecting much.

As long as he learns and progresses well, I'd be happy.

well WV's back...where've you been at? been awhile since i've seen you on here...

I don't expect anything...somewhere I read that he is receiving third round money. I see him as a fourth round pick type prospect. I'd like to say he would have an impact but I will believe it when I see it on the field.
