After looking at this season, and please with the way Miami ended, here's what I think we need.

1. A dominate center..Rex at center is good, but then the RG spot is weak
so if we get a dominate C, and rex at RG solidifies the middle of James, C, and Rex
2. LT..McIntosh was decent but not dominating.

3. Resign McKinney\McIntosh for depth.

4. If we sign a FA QB, we need to sign one who can start from day 1. Gus will probably be back. Don't know enough about Lemon to comment. Accuracy is cruical in this O..who ever has to be able to pass accurately to give us a chance. A draftee to learn..

5. A dominating SS..I think Y. Bell and Tillman can handle the FS well.
Y. Bell really impressed me with his cover skills this year, he's really come
a long ways..from last year to earlier this year to now.

6. 2 more young CB's, you can never have enough.

7. A young pass rushing specialist at DT to go with Carter. Manning Wright might be that next year. KV and one more wouldn't hurt at all.

Now..Let's look at what's coming back that didn't play this year.

Possibly: Chester, Bowens, but that's a big if's.

IR Players: K. Vickerson, Poole, S. Mitchell, D. Thompson, E. Moore, K. Newson, W. Smith, T. Jones, E. Wilson. D. Boston

Is there enough in the IR and possibles to help...I only see Chester, Bowens, Poole, Vickerson as help...but Bowens is really old, and Chester needs to show that that injury is history. S. Mitchell was good in College, has to show he can do it at the pro level..Poole has shown glimpses of this. A healthy D. Boston is intriguing.

Age Positions on the team that need youth.

DE, DT, LB

For DE Roth has got to show more, Need another one.

DT, Wright has shown that he can play in spot, need to see consistency.
K. Vickerson showed something in PS, but does that translate into the regular season? They both have a year now in the system. Still need another Young guy for 2 years from now, but needs to be groom this coming year.

LB: Can we find another Crowder? If so, he plus Zach, Spagen, Crowder, Pope, who played well when given a chance this year, and Glenn would be a good mix of vet's and youth.

My guess as to where changes will take place next year.

Offense
Chambers..LT .. James.. C..Hadnot.. Carey..McMicheal..Booker
..........................................QB
...........................................Barnes
...........................................Brown
SR: Welker or Draftee/FA

Defense
Daniels\Poole..Carter..Wright..NT..Taylor..SM\S.Mitchell
........Crowder.......Thomas.....Spagen\new Crowder
............................Y. Bell.....Dominating SS

Who will remain:
O: McKinney, McIntosh, Gilmore, Lemon ??, If we sign a starting caliber QB, Sage will be resigned and Gus released, If we sign a project, Gus will be resigned and Sage released. A draftee=Gus resigned., R. Williams, S. Morris, I don't think we keep Minor next year, 4 RB's is a bit much. We need another FB after Barnes in case he gets hurt. Morris isn't it.

D: Glenn, Holliday,Traylor\Bowen\Chester, Vickerson, Roth, Bowens(DE), Tillman, maybe Pope, after that, I think upgrades period plus projects.

Okay enough, what do you guys think.

looks like you put some time into this. I don't think Sam will be back.

I'm kind of stuck on that one, the only way I see Sam gone is that we can find a good vet cb in FA, if not, I think he remains, once I look at what FA has to offer, I may rethink this..

Same here I really doubt he will return. Our top priority is getting our franchise QB, and then get better and younger on defense, and get 1 or 2 more O linemen.

Yes and Yes. I think LeCharles Bentley would be a good choice for C and he also has experience at G. D-Mac was decent enough but we could draft one this offseason to be his understudy.

We need to draft a QB in the 1st/2nd round. We've tried FA, trade, etc. Nothing worked except that. If we have to trade up to get Leinart/Young/Cutler/Quinn, then so be it. Gus is serviceable for at least another year. If not, we can always find journeyman QB to start for a year or two.

5. A dominating SS..I think Y. Bell and Tillman can handle the FS well.

We need a hard hitting SS with at least some cover skills. There are a few good ones in the draft that we can get in the lower rounds. Tebucky was supposed to be that and I guess if nothing else good is around, can be kept. Re-signing Schulters is a must. He's our Int. leader and tops among our safeties in tackles. He'll more than alleviate safety depth.

6. 2 more young CB's, you can never have enough.

The problem with rookie CB's is that they make mistakes. We need to draft one and find a veteran via FA. Because other than Sam, we have no experienced CB. If Jets cut Ty Law, I say we try to make a deal with him. He's performed solidly this season with double digit interceptions. More than both our CB's combined.

7. A young pass rushing specialist at DT to go with Carter. Manning Wright might be that next year. KV and one more wouldn't hurt at all.

We need a young widebody NT and Traylor next year. We're good with Wright, Holliday, Zgonina, and Vickerson. But none are as good as Traylor in stuffing the run. A drafted 330+ lb NT should fit the bill for future run-stuffer.

Minor's good at special teams so we might keep him. We don't really use FB because of Linehan's system. Pope should be kept. He's a good backup with potential to start.

Saban will bring in a few FA's...my guess is: DB (Law, Clements ??), OL (Bentley, Hutchinson ??), LB (Peterson - not a FA...will require a trade).

Draft needs - OL and DB positions seem deep and should offer a front line player with # 16. Then address the other one with the 2nd pick, unless a good QB is available (Whitehurst ??), DL with 3rd pick. After that, best player available.
