really interesting thought came into my mind when i was watching espn. what do people really get out of sports? why do we focus so much of our time on these people that excel in running fast, catching balls, shooting balls in hoops, hitting balls accurately? why do we come on these boards and argue with one another about how our team will be in the future? i dont really have a problem with all of this, it was just an interesting thought that popped in my head.

You might want to up your meds...

;)

Just kidding...actually, it's a good question. I'd be curious to hear how many folks answer honestly:

- "It's time away from my wife."
- "I get to relive my glory days as 2nd-string high school junior varsity offensive guard."
- "Eventually, watching 2girls1cup gets boring."

thats a thought ive had for year nows and i just can't figure it out myself. the crazy thing is this country and MANY countries seem to be running off of sports. if u take sports away from this country for instance life would hit such a drastic change that u cant even assume how things would turn out as oppose to global warming for instance.

u take sports away from me for instance and i dono how bored or how diff or what i would be doing instead. half my life revolves aroudn sports and the passion/hubby/love for it. but at the end what is it? its nothign really and its us putting our time away to watch OTHERS succeed. i guess its a form of drug? loll

I get to relive my glory days as an all state forward in field hockey.....no,not really, that was a long, long time ago.
The past 18 years have been exhilerating, thrilling and horribly frustrating watching the Fins.I have lived and died every sunday with these guys and I can truthfully say that the one thing I get out of watching the Fins is incredible entertainment. How many terrific moments have there been in the last 18 years?Plenty!
Sure there have been bad times too,but the one thing the Dolphins always manage to do is show me a good time, and that is why I watch the Fins.

very true. we live so vicariously through these people on the field that at first you say to urself why am i really watching a bunch of guys who trained all of their life to do these challenging yet, relative to world issues and issues pertaining to our life as a whole, pointless physical bouts. yet you cant stop watching, talking about, and playing sports.

I love the dolphins but I wouldn't go that far! there is other things other then the dolphins.

Yeah...like the Marlins, 'Canes football, 'Canes baseball & Panthers hockey. :)
