From the cooler heads prevail society: I think we did OK. We did not overpay for anyone, our defensive line looks great, liinebackers improved by subtraction and our corners are another year older and wiser. I like the D.

On offense we gained some speed and a third down playmaker that demands coverage. I would have been more upset by spendig next years draft on Orton, been there done that. Start the onslaught now but, I think we are better than we were at the beginning of last week and last year.

Wed be better off overpaying for a couple good players than paying market value for the true crap we sign. I would have rather overpaid for McNabb or Orton or anyone else than signed Matt Moore. Would have rather overpaid for a good RT than signed Columbo. What the heck is the point of all these savings just to bring in a bunch of crap. Overpaying for 5 good players is far better than signing 10 or 12 "deal" players

McNabb? Come on man. Orton is one thing, but McNabb???? I have always been a big McNabb guy but he showed poorly last year, and even more poorly in learning an offense that he is not accustomed to.

We got better on defense? Where have I been?

We added one fast (not necessarily good) player, and ignored need for speedd at WR and TE.

We added depth at tackle when we needed 2 starting guards...

Plax may not have played in 2 years, but I'll take him over Hartline 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

Guess you didn't catch the Crowder release and the player signed to release him?

Plax really? That is a stretch. Guess we will see but I really don't think he is gonna pan out.

Being from the Cuse, I was hoping and praying that we signed McNabb.. Moreso in my heart than in my brain..

Generally, I like it. A lot is going to depend on how or rookies play, if Pouncey, Thomas, Gates and Clay show some promise then the offseason is going to look pretty solid. We got an upgrade at ILB, we got a playmaking RB, we're working on the OL (if O'Hara signs, I'll be very pleased), got a backup DT, and some depth at OLB. All should be upgrades from what we had last year. I know a lot of people aren't high on Colombo, but our OL depth was trash last year, and that's putting it lightly. I would have liked a better QB to compete with Henne, but I'm glad we didn't panic overspend for Orton. It hasn't been overly sexy, but I do think we're better. How much better? hard to say.

Reggie is a gamble, but we are changing styles up. It's also risky to bank on Henne.

The other moves aren't sexy, but I feel we have better depth.

Season depends on how Henne and Bush/Thomas pan out

Still waiting for more FA moves. There are still a lot of good players out there. I dont know what we are waiting for..We need to cut all the dead weight and sign some new players. Look at this list and we can get Goldson (FS), Lawson (OLB), Steve Smith (WR NYG), Tommie Harris (DE/DT), KEvin Boss (TE) and a few other players!!

at least the FO is writing their own ticket out of here. Be happy for that. Next year, new regime...

I like the signing of Burnett, but if they think signing Matt Moore will help Miami's passing game, they're even dumber than I thought they were.

Well really it is hard to know. Look we could have had Ryan Mallet in the 3rd. Why did Mallet drop to the 3rd if he had 1st round talent you have to ask? 3rd rounders only make a impact on a team 30% of the time so there you go. Regarding Orton we are the only team really insterested and why no one else I have to ask again. Plus both these guys we did go after to make them Dolphins by the way but we were "not" willing to pay as much for them as many fans wanted. So are both those guys answers for the current situation at QB? Is a QB controversy good for any team and the answer is NO. That is a given. So on this position alone I have a hard time just believing the fans on this site are smarter than the 32 GM's whose job it is to find and develop talent.
Running back is really the big question mark on this team right now and has been. Ronnie and Ricky are still available as FA agents signaling to me that the rest of the leaque has seen them as assets past their prime but a rookie and injury prone scatback leaves me nervous too. Still we are not done I hope.
Offensive line was a huge issue last year at the end IMO and we are tinkering with it still. Yes I expect a lot more from Sporano here too.
Dabol and his record says it all.
Hate to here the reports about Henne coming out of traning camp so far too.
All I know is that Nolan came here as the DC and got things turned around here in less than a year and this is what we need this year on the offensive side of the ball and I see nothing that inspires that type of confidence that is going to happen.
That still leaves special teams on the back burner that no one is talking about and that area alone cost us 2-3 games the past 2 years.
The coach manning the special teams is the understudy of the guy that got fired for under performing.
While I have like Tony's S demeanor these past 3 years unnlike many of the bozo's in the leaque you gotta wonder why a guy that is now is the coach of a NFL team and specialty is the offensive line has a team still struggling in that area.
LOOKS to me we are going basement bargain shopping right now for veterans and hope a couple stick.

When I started this thread, my complaint was really based on years of conservative moves by all of our front offices. We could've signed Michael Vick when he got out of prison, hell, I was all for it even though I got flamed on this forum for suggesting it. I would've like to have seen us get Plaxico too, why not? I think Prison changes a man, humbles him, realizes that playing in the NFL isn't a right, but a privelage. Why not take a chance on Vince Young? Once again, you watch, that move is going to pay off for Andy Reid big time, just like the Michael Vick move. How come we didn't draft one of those QBs in this draft? Or any other not counting when we got Henne. All the way from Wanstache up till now, each of these regimes has played like they were scared to be sitting at the table. Jake Long over Matt Ryan? That is a safe sissy move. Not that Long isn't a great player, but once again, we pass up an opportunity to draft a franchise QB because our GM lacked testicular fortitude. We're not even buying in to sit at the table in the AFC EAST. With the current roster does anyone here really believe we can honestly compete with the Pats and the Jets this year? With what we have at QB? With what we've added? The bottom line is that we as fans have suffered for the better part of a decade because of weak front offices who lacked the balls to do what it takes to build a contender which requires you to take chances. You can't always play it safe...

You may be right our division is pretty tough though of course the Jets were not that tough until Ryan showed up which tell you the right guys at the helm make a huge difference as bad as I dislike the guy.
I do reemeber Parcells saying though he would have had Ryan as the head coach of the Phins if he had not already made up his mind about Tony S and Ireland.
It is just that close of call some time.
