I can't believe there are Dolphin fans who still want Chad P. out and Chad H. in as our starting QB. But I was browsing another Fin board and saw this post by a Raven fan and the response by a Dolphin "fan?"

Response:
No, I don't want him as a starter long term.

He's a great leader who is extremely accurate but his lack of arm strength allows us to be defensed differently, especially by better defenses. There are just some patterns he can't complete when you need a QB to make a play to pick up 3rd and 7+.

It's not impossible to win a title with a weak armed QB like Chad, you just need GREAT talent around him. We don't have that yet, and we might never get to that overall level of talent.

I'm hoping that Chad Henne is ready to take the job from Chad next summer. I think he offers us a QB that can give us the best of both worlds: Intelligent, great leader, great intangibles and great arm.

I hope Penny shows more loyalty to the Fins than some of our fans show to him. Does this "fan?" not know that we just won the AFC East with Chad P.? After a season like Chad had, it is incomprehensable to me that even one (and he is not alone) fan would not want Pennington to continue with this team. I mean that as no disrespect to Henne, as I feel he will also step up when his time comes. Talk about lack of gratitude!

Once people (fans) get the taste of winning the only thing they want are Superbowl wins. Pennnigton did well in NY but fans wanted more then 12-4 and then out of the playoffs, they wanted a championship. Look at Philly they went to 3/4 NFC championship games and then a Superbowl and this year they wanted DM out.

Hey man....it's his opinion. I don't agree with everything he said but I would love to see someone take advantage of Ted Ginn's speed.

That flea flicker he threw to Ted was wayyyy under thrown and Ted did a great job judging the ball and reacting. However, if you watch replays from the back....Ted burnt both of the defenders and would have scored on the catch had it been thrown to his speed.

However, I love Chad P and everything he has brought to our team....is he the long term answer? You know he isn't. Jay Feidler was a tough, smart QB who was great at managing games.....but his weak arm eventually lead to his demise in Miami.

Teams learn and adapt to the opposing QB's ability...why play you deep if they know you will not go there often.

I disagree about the flea flicker - He was engaged by 2 defenders and even if thrown a pass in stride would probably been tackled. But even strong armed QBs don't hit you in stride at that distance often. Just because you can throw it hard and long doesn't mean it will be on target.
I also disagree with your implication that Chad P's arm strength is causing or will cause the demise of the offense. Other NFL teams have seen Chad for 9 years now. They already know how strong his arm is. They would already be devising defenses to stop him. But they were unable to do so this year. The Dolphin offense was ranked a very good 12th in yards per game (passing 10th, rushing 11th, overall 12th). There are few household name, probowl type, players on the Fin offense.
And as far as "knowing Chad P. is not the long-term option". That depends on how you define long-term. If you mean the next 4 or 5 years, then yes I think he can be that option. Longer than that, because of age, you are right. And what makes everyone think Chad Henne is that long term option? He has not had the chance to show us he will or won't be. He has potential! But all potential means is "you haven't done anything yet".
