What Does McDaniel Do Wrong?

Can't get plays in on time, calls timeouts as a result.

Can't challenge for ****. **** is better at challenging than him

Can't adjust to defensive schemes in game. Really not sure why he's considered a genius. (Although last year was adjust I guess since most of everything was short. And passes to the flat looking like gase ass. But it's like he goes in with a plan and sticks with it no matter how bad the defense shuts it down.

No discipline for players ****ing around.

Gives vets extra rest days

Created a soft bitch as environment.

Rather be besties than a coach.

Can't talk, speaks like a special Ed with turrets um, ah, um, ah, um, ah

Why are we asking this again like we don't already know

But, but, but he did that to accommodate you. - LOL

Lack of discipline and fundamentals. Tolerance for sloppy play. Mistakes and penalties are too frequent.

Training camp isn’t taken seriously enough. Lack of urgency. They aren’t prepared early in the season. They don’t get lined up right, they have too many penalties. It costs them.

The team lacks physicality and toughness. This shows up on the road, against good teams, and in the playoffs.

Will he self-reflect and improve?
I think he has already started to do just that.

genuinely curious here, what does the play calling stop him from doing? Could this be part of the reason he isn't great on clock management?
IMO, he seems to be more interested in being an OC than being a HC. I would say he has no idea how to actually be a HC as a result.

He lacks the most fundamental skill in leadership which is communicating with purpose, power and command.

He stutters because he's not sure of himself, and it's a bad reflection of him. He's unlisten-able...poor communicator. He may be smart and have bright ideas, but he is not sharp nor quick.

That lack of confidence bleeds into several other areas into his position and control over the team. He fails to get this team to the LOS with ample time for OL to make calls and QB to effectively read defenses. They consistently struggle to just avoid delay of games on offense. That's unacceptable.

It's been reported by @djphinfan that practices are soft and lack cohesion and after practice condition work.

He's way over his head.

He has an experienced offensive coordinator as just a QB coach, yet hires an OL coach as a fake offensive coordinator, yet his ego doesn't allow the OC or QB coach to call his system plays during games due to his failures in time management...if you can't fix you errors, you're a terrible leader.

If I a normal guy can see that....retired Navy Chief too...so led men to war...lol...if I can see it as a regular guy, every player, coach and front office guy knows it too. We have soft label and that always falls on the shoulders of the HC....

Pitt, Balt, SF, KC, Buff all those teams are antithesis of Dolphins, none of them are considered soft...we also always lead the league in injuries....

He has no future here, however I hope I'm wrong and he grows and learns to be a leader of men despite shortcomings.

That is simplistic explanation in my opinion. I think the players cannot execute a normal
scheme or playbook because of the time to throw due to the horrible oline.

The one thing MM has to fix is getting the play in on time.

It’s simple because it doesn’t take a genius to discern or comprehend.

McDaniel comes in with a plan of attack on Sunday & if it gets figured out in the 1st half, he doesn’t seem to be able to draw up a different form of attack.

This was made evident the year San Francisco took the throwing lanes away from Tua & McDaniel didn’t have an answer. Ever since that night, it’s been the same old tune.

Chief, I agree with most of what your saying, but if we won one more game, we would’ve easily been in the playoffs for the 3rd straight year despite our qb missing 6-7 games.

That is the best stretch of football we’ve had in like 20 years. Yes, we have not been on the level as the best teams in the league but let’s say that we address the lines in the draft/second part of free agency. We could be a more physical team.

Let’s say we make the playoffs next year and win a playoff game or lose a close wild card game. Is McDaniel not building a winning culture? I know winning in the playoffs is the bottom line but do you fire McD with 3 playoff seasons out of 4 years?

Would you opt for another 11 straight seasons of playoff appearances under Marino or would you opt to try & discover what we SHOULD do to get to a Super Bowl?

Winning culture… how dare you?

30 years since a SB appearance. You should be arrested for writing winning culture….

I’m asking the question because the argument can be made that we are building a winning culture.
This is the best it’s been since the early 90’s. We have a qb. We have some pieces. We’ve drafted well and have been a playoff contender, and been in the mix for the one seed for multiple seasons in a row.

I do feel that we’ve failed and would fire everyone because we’ve had too much talent to not win a playoff game.

However, building a winning culture takes time. McD is the most successful coach we’ve had in a long time.

They gotta do what it takes...

Again he is a bright guy, and innovative. The league screwed US by making his speed motion illegal. Nobody got injured from that scheme, yet they took that from us.

I stand behind what I said in my post, however I hope he learns from his mistakes and learns game time management, hope he uses the new guy Slowik for offensive help and time management, hope he gets this team conditioned and loses the soft label....

But ffs why we have to hope 3 years in with all these mistakes and no improvement? It doesn't feel destined for success. It feels like an organization or company on a downward trend. Again hope I'm wrong.

We are always manhandled by the tougher and physical teams. Hope he figures it out and becomes a leader in command of his men...

It feels like too much hope lol.

*40 years, and 50 since champion contenders.

The speed motion being made illegal is not talked about enough here.

We had a top 3 running game in 2023. We need to focus on the trenches. We still have a chance to field a more physical team that won’t be manhandled.

I agree that things aren’t looking good. I think expectations have changed. This won’t be a superbowl contender. I think we peaked in 2023. But we can win a playoff game. This is a rebuilding year
