What does Tannehill do poorly?

i think clay was the primary on that play hoping by running him across the formation if i recall correctly that the defender would be late and tanny would have an easy pitch and catch...i also think clay was viewed as the primary mismatch...not much to like about tight red zone with this wr group...he definitely threw late and thats a long ways away but i chalk that up as a learning opportunity...never be late on the outside in goalline

at least he didn't pull a henne and hold the ball while eyeballing clay til he was sacked in the tight red...

You saw a glimpse of it on that 4th down against the Bucs, after the refs overturned the 2nd down touchdown pass. The Bucs lined up with matched numbers and good leverage, and Tannehill decided to lock in on a all covered Charles Clay, threw it late, and if Gaiter had just a microsecond quicker reaction he picks it, and it's his speed he likely takes it 97 yards for a touchdown.

Tannehill has a tendency to do exactly that.

Also as Slimm pointed out this was a horribly designed play. There was no place other than Clay for Tannehill to go, the smart play would have been to throw the ball out of bounds but at the very least there should have been a back corner route or check down for Tannehill to go to.

But CK is spot on this could have been an easy pick six if the CB was a fraction of a second sooner, the corner played this perfect other than he didn't pick the ball.

I saw one other play that Tannehill could have been much better on, he floated a ball in the flat that could have gained Miami several yards, I'm not sure if this had to do with the ball being damp or if he simply has a problem with touch passes, for now I am chalking it up to a wet night because there were a few other passed on the WR screen that he executed with perfection but those passes were also zipped out there.

the floater in the flats where he missed egnew i think it was imo had to do with taking pro set drops and not being comfortable coming out of his drop footwork wise...thus the ball was errant on the release

He´s like a rookie fighter that you want to throw into the arena soon so that he can get beat up quickly....so he recognizes the taste of blood, battle, and learns to fight back!! Its just not gonna be pretty in the beggining.

He just lacks experience he has all the tools to be great

Precisely. He is NOT ready. His "reads" MUST get better, and so must his "decision-making". We saw some of that on Friday last. But, man, has he ever got "the tools" and intelligence. (You just have to listen to him speak!!!) I haven't felt this good about a MIAMI Rookie QB's potential since 1983.

I wouldn't be in ANY hurry to play him. MOORE's a lot better than a lot of people give him credit for. We can ride w/MOORE for a while. After all, I remember BECK. I/m/o, HE also had potential. Not as much as TANNEHILL, but potential nonetheless. Remember what happened? "Let's get BECK some experience", our crackerjack Coaches said. "We aren't going anywhere this year, so let's let him start next week in PITTSBURGH."

True geniuses, right? You remember what happened on that cold, wet day in PITTSBURGH, when BECK started vs the STEELERS? BECK got the worst butt-kicking that I have EVER seen a QB take, at ANY LEVEL, EVER. He was nothing more than a "tackling dummy" for the freakin' PITTSBURGH STEELER "D" in its prime! I/m/o, it blew him up, physically and mentally. And I/m/o, he never showed much of anything again...he never recovered.

I would hate to see what the homespun philosopher LAWRENCE BERRA once described as "deja vu all over again". We've waited too long.

He seems to lock onto receivers although not half as bad as Henne. Also the one throw to Clay for the would-be pick six was a horrible decision. In that situation.... well actually I was going to say in that situation you throw it away but it was 4th down. Take a chance in the endzone or try to run it in.

Well there is a big difference here. Beck had ZERO talent. I mean he couldnt beat out Cleo Lemon for god sakes. Tannehill is almost beating out Moore, who would throw circles around Lemon.

Does Tannehill telegraph his throws by hitting the ball? I know I saw him do this at least once.

You mean like pump it with both hands before he throws? I havent seen him do any of that. I havent seen every throw but ive seen alot. I wouldnt think its a habit.

I heard he doesn't moonwalk on water very good but he is working on it and he is just a rookie so...

You totally missed my point.
