As far as Miami Dolphins Defense goes, only Cameron Wake is more respected for his leadership and play than Reshad Jones.
That’s why the Dolphins brass paid Jones a fortune even by NFL standards to the tune of $60 million over 5 years, including $35 million guaranteed, with an average annual salary of $12 million.
Despite his talent and a history of excellent production, Jones enters the first year of his contract coming off shoulder surgery and 29 years old, which adds risk to the financial considerations.
This is a big game for Miami, and it doesn’t take a great per head sportsbook to figure out that in order or Miami to get a win this week Jones must play a big part.
So while it’s only been two games, the question is, how’s the big payout going so far?

definitely not back to pro bowl form yet. We need someone to start making some plays back there.

I wouldn't say he's been horrible or anything close but so far he hasn't been the same. We need to give him time thought and he's played two games only after that big surgery. It doesn't help that he's not getting much help from the other guys back there and the pass rush has been very inconsistent

Ozzy rules!!

With guys like maxwell and Alonso in the passing game blowing coverages consistently, I don't feel inclined to blame our pass defense woes on Jones

Agree. He's not playing like he was previous of the injury but we need to give him time. Honestly after missing so much time and after recovering from that surgery I would give him this entire season to get back to form. Love Jones and not worried about his skill level or work ethic.

He's playing like his shoulder is still injured

most overrated player on the dolphins - and that is saying something. he makes an occasional splash play like a tfl or a big hit, and the occasional int. playing centerfield... but:

is not good generally in coverage situations, takes poor angles especially in the deep field / when chasing a play, gets confused on assignments, freelances, overpowered by tight ends, outmaneuvered by shifty receivers, goes for pump fakes, and on and on.

i think this was a terrible investment. he potentially would be a good deone buchanon-type player for us, like a nickel linebacker, but i just dont have any faith in his ability to hold up in coverage

He's not terrible, but he's not the best SS in football anymore.

Reshad seems like he has to do everyone's job. I think the lack of talented linebackers is killing him. Does he need to get it together? Yes, any secondary allowing 80% completions is something to worry about. I bet this question gets laughed at within a couple weeks. Reshad is the last person I worry about. And yes, I know he hasn't been himself. Time will help with that

T.J. McDonald is younger cheaper version of R. Jones, I do wonder how much of Jones contract is voidable and if the bonus is more roster, workout, etc bonus that pure signing bonus.

Has anyone really looked good so far this season? Ajayi in game one for sure. Parker overall, James. Not many others.

We're going to get a chance to see what this coaching staff can do. It hasn't been impressive so far with the way the corners are giving up the 5-7 yard pass. Let's see how the coaching staff fixes that. That scheme has really affected the pass rush in a negative way as well since opposing quarterbacks have open receivers almost instantly.

What Miami needs to do is play big nickel with Reshad in the box when TJ McDonald comes back.
