What Dolphins decided, and what they haven’t, after spending high picks on linemen

get rid of this position coaching. They don't know which end is up. Question is, what capable coach out there would we be able to hire for the line?

I really believe the talent isn’t that bad on this team. I don’t think we hit it out of the park with all-pro’s but I believe these guys have NFL talent. The coaching is abysmal. I think Flores could still lead but he needs to learn from his mistakes and hire solid NFL coaches at all positions

do you trust Flores to hire replacement coordinators at this point? I don't know that I do. I also feel like if he was going to do that, it would have already happened, like he's riding out the storm with "his crew"...

It's not like he has been shy about replacing coaches so far in his tenure.

IMO The reason Eich fell was due to his ceiling/arm length. His arm length would traditionally place him at guard. There are a few OT's in the league close to his arm length like La'el Collins who eventually blossomed into very good tackles. He took a few years to go from bull in china shop and sloppy to working out the kinks.

Austin Jackson was a project tackle taken in the 1st after an OT run in the first and the fact Left Tackles get over drafted. He was/is very raw.

I think what doesn't help is a rookie coach and lack of 1 or 2 good vet players. If Eich could have a solid vet guard next to him that he could trust to cover the blitz/stunt/missed block I think it could be less over thinking and getting back to correct hand/feet technique. But right now it's rook next to 2nd year raw guard next to PS waiver pickup on the left side.

You may not have all the pieces of your team by year 3, but you better have your coaching staff in place by then. He is a lame duck at this point. Nobody worth a damn in going to hitch thier wagon to Grier and Flores, no matter what Ross says in public.

Perhaps. Or it could be an opportunity for someone to come in knowing that Grier and Flores are likely gone and will need someone to take over??

At the very least Grier has to go. He has been the one constant in the past 20 years. We've sucked all those years. He can't be allowed to draft, trade or write contracts any more. It is way past time to part ways.

Who scouted these kids? We are obviously missing something in that process if they are all better suited to play guard at the NFL level. So frustrating.
This is something that goes back to the Belichick tree/philosophy. They overvalue versatility, instead of finding a guy that can be a great left tackle even if that's pretty much all he can do. You've seen for years the Pat's are terrible at drafting and when they make a pick you always hear they could have gotten that same guy a round or two later, and more often than not they dont pan out. They want guys so badly that can move around and play multiple positions that we can't seem to find a guy that can just be a Stud tackle.

I didn’t realize / don’t follow their drafts of late. I know from like 2000-2010 they landed so many great players in the draft. From 2010 onward not so much. Perhaps due to philosophical change you mention? Someone posted their drafts for the past 20 years about a month ago and it was eye opening - even without Brady, they drafted great players and very good players consistently and then it fell off.

Not surprisingly our OL coach doesn't come across as someone on the top of his game. He doesn't acknowledge the line's struggles and also said he doesn’t know whether Hunt was better at tackle in 2020 than guard in 2021. WHAT?!??!

Somehow I think these linemen would play a lot better and the coaches would coach a lot better if we got ourselves a good QB in here.
