Looking at the "Miracle at the Meadowlands" aka "Meltdown at the Meadowlands" being replayed on the NFL Network, I kind of forgot that Jay Fiedler used to be pretty good. The last few years he was here, he was throwing like that.

This game shows him making pinpoint throws, very accurate deep balls....what the hell happened to THAT Jay Fiedler? :err:

Wait till you see the pick he throws in OT of that game and you will no longer give a damn. Although I can't totally blame him, we should have kept running the ball.

Fielder should never have been an NFL starter. An aging Marino was much better than this guy. Fielder was never good.

I disagree, he is better then many starters in the NFL today. He is not great, maybe just average, but he is defiantely a NFL starting QB.

He is a protypical System QB, where his game is the short-Mid range passing game with the capability to go long.

He needs to be on an offense with weapons all around him. He is not suited for a team with no RB's and Sh*tty Wr's and or OL.

He has the capablities to bring you back in games with the right people around him. And he has the heart of a lion. I feel bad the Rap he got down here, he did nothing but win games for us.

IT's not his fault he was poorly coached and had **** for players around him. Hell look at what he did with No receivers and one great RB, we were destined for the playoffs until our onstoppable D blew it against the pats.

I think Fiedler played pretty well in that game.. untill Gailey totally wet the bed and deviated from the 1st half game plan. L.Thomas was running all over them.. **sigh**..

Anyway.. it was awesome to see Gadsden making some nice plays.

I checked to see if he was still playing, he retired after the 2006 season after Tampa cut him at the end of training camp that year. Per his blog he is playing Pro Volleyball now.....

That was his 1st year with miami, his play declined dramatically every year thereafter.. Although he was the best post Marino QB we have had after Chad..

Personally, before Pennington came along I felt that Gus Frerotte was the best QB in a Dolphins uniform post Marino. That's just me though. I thought he did a good job in is one season here.

The thing about Fiedler is that he had his good games, like the thanksgiving game against Dallas where he made nice passes and did well. But he also had just as many games where he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from being off target and throwing lame, wobbly deep passes and then not to mention mistakes, especially at critical times. He was very inconsistent or streaky. So you would see him do well one game, and then the next three, play ****ty, and then many alright the game after those ones and so on.

Fiedler had some pretty good Wrs, Oronde Gadsden was a beast during that time and Chambers was a very good complement as a rookie the season after to Gadsden. They were not great, but they weren't too bad either.

I've never tried to bash Fiedler.....he was a gritty player that left it on the football field....he got the most out of what he had....and I try to respect a player like that....it's a helluva lot better than a player with incredible athletic ability and/or talent that just doesn't get it....

The problem was I knew the guy just wasn't good enough....and I hate knowing **** like that when there's nothing you can do about it....

Fiedler was leagues better than the slew of Qbs that we got after him. Ray Lucas, Brian Griese, Trent Green, Daunte Culpepper, Cleo Lemon, John Beck, etc. The guy played with alot of heart and competed when he was on the field. Given a good coach who knows what could have happened. He reminds me of Pennington in a way. He might not be as gifted as Penny but they both obviously didn't have the prototypical QB traits. Fiedler really didn't have an arm but he had a heart of a Lion. Same with Pennington, "noodle arm" but is the most cerebral in the game.
