Ginn, Beck, Satele, Booker...

Love the Booker pick...OK with the Satele pick...Hated the Ginn and Beck picks. Would of much rather had Quinn throwing the football to Jarrett.

Reno, I'm sure you are stoked to get Ted Guinn Jr. as I am. We both been predicating that our offense needs a number 1 receiver and this is him.

I remember your thread about how wide receiver is a position that needs to be administered. I couldn't agree more. We now have upgraded our returner role and administered our future number 1 receiver all in one. He is the only play maker we have drafted in as long as I can't remember. Last year we drafted Hagan, nice pick for a receiver but Ted Ginn Jr. basically fills in more spots than you can think of.

1. Special Teams
2. Explosive Wide Receiver(unlike chambers)
3. Explosive Return man
4. Number 1 play maker.

This is a guy who is ready to make impact in day 1 reno. Brady Wasn't going to make impact in day 1 specially with the wide receivers we have had.

Ginn a number 1 reciever? Please, he won't be able to get off of the line with a physical man to man coverage.

D+. We should have been able to trade down about five spots in the first round for SOMETHING, even a late second day pick. I like Stanton better than Beck because of age, but time will tell. I wish Ryan Kalil had fallen one more spot, maybe we should have offered to give them a pick to switch spots. The difference between Kalil and Stabele is pretty large. My favorite pick is Lorenzo Booker. We can trade Ricky Williams for a pick next year, which is a lot better than relying on him at this point.

Agree except I liked the Satele pick.

B- Would have been a B+ or an A if the Ginn pick would have been around pick #14-17 with another 2nd or 3rd. I think he will be exciting to watch on sunday, haven't had a KR/PR/WR that makes me hold my breath everytime he touches the ball in all my years of watching dolphins. Was happy with Beck pick over Quinn, think he's a more accurate QB and better decision maker, not happy that hes already 26, but better value I feel, and you have to trust a QB coach that coached Quinn and passed on him and Cam really tested these QBs and got his man. Satele was the C I wanteed as well, great pick will start day one and move Hadnot back to guard. Booker was a luxery pick that is fast and change of pace rb, minors replacement will be good for us on 3rd down and ST. Quinten Moses DE or Charle Johnson DE would have been the icing on the cake with that extra pick we should have gotten from moving down in rd 1 to select Ginn.

I'm not grading the draft yet but there are some positions that might not be visible to the "naked eye" and that is playmaker. Ted might not be the best route runner but he is among the same quality as many of our starting receivers in the league today when they were coming out of college.

When we drafted Chambers, he didn't par with elite receivers in the league. Made those crazy acrobatic catches but was never that kind of playmaker kind of receiver.

After that we have not drafted a ledgit receiver with any talent in particular. We did however but in late rounds which ended up released or never made the team.

Look at our receiver position right now and visually this.

Is our number 1 receiver good enough?
Is our number 2 receiver fast enough?
Is our number 3 receiver the kind of guy that can step up?

1. Chambers has been good for us but he has done little to improve his play in the last couple of seasons. He is not explosive off the line of scrimmage and still has problems with his technique that are mostly mental. His route running is not the best but there is not another attribute that he has to cover for that negative such as explosiveness or playmaking ability or create separation between his opponents.

2. Booker made most of his catches last season by pure playmaking. Sadly he posted as much stats as chambers by catching less balls and having less balls thrown to him. Did he drop crucial passes? No Is he explosive enough? enough to make plays. The question with booker is more of his salary, age and the future with this franchise. As a number 2 receiver he has done pretty well in the last seasons but we are in need of younger talent.

3. Hagan, I'll reserve my judgement until he gets on the field more.

As you can see there is no clear explosive receiver right now that has play making abilities in every phase of their game. While some possess strenghs of their own, none possess an equal amount of ability as Ted Jr. does.

How in the world can you grade a draft whne the players haven't even signed a contract yet?? All you're doing is grading the popularity of the picks, not what they will or have done for your team.

There have been many receivers that are around his weight. Who cares about his weight, he can gain during the off-season. If that is what you are worried about then go ahead and hope for the dolphins to draft Mr. Olympia. I want a play maker in offense and defense.

I lean toward a B or B- for day one. I think Ginn is highly overrated and hate the pick at #9. The stuff I had read leading up to the draft pointed to Beck as the best fit for the Cameron offense. Satele was the best player available on Kiper's board at #60 and I expect him to start this season. Booker replaces Travis Minor.

B!

And ONLY because, if it wasn't for the whole Quinn debacle, I would actually be quite happy w/ the picks we have today. Ginn is a playmaker, Beck looks solid, and Satele looks mean. Booker is a bit curious, but he's fast!

I'm still in shock over Quinn, but if I take that part away, I like what we've done. But in reality, we won't know how we did for some time!

With that said, I really dont think Cam/Mueller are that dumb to draft a pure KR/PR so high. I think Ginn does have potential to make big plays. My main concern is not so much Ginn, as the second round provided a hundful of QBs to choose from and I was never high on Quinn, but Im not so sure how much longevity Beck has. 26 years old in this league is the age most players reach their peak. By the time this guy peaks we will already be talking about drafting the next franchise QB, which could be what this team has in mind.
