Right now we need cap $ to lock up the young guys and improve the club. SInce the hwole league is 20 - 30M under the cap we will need $ to be a player. IMO there are some guys that aren't worth their payday. I'm not sure these are the exact cap #'s - just what I remember seeing.

KCarter - l like the guy and he is a warrior but at @ 5.6M too expensive.
BAnderson - 2.1M - no way.
JJames - 3+M - no way - go Fonati!
Mare - 1.5 or 2M - look at the rook in NE - guy is a stud at cheap.
Chambers - 6 or 7M - no need to explain how out of whack this is with his production
McMike - 5.xM - may prosper in new system but at this cost - way overpaid.

Any others?

I agree with you that Kevin Carter is probably too expensive to keep around at this point. I would, however, like to see Vonnie Holliday brought back. He has more left in the tank than Carter and isn't quite as expensive.

I like Carter too and maybe he can follow JT and Zach and restructure. He's aging so he won't find that great a market for him. Anderson must go. Period. James was a horrible pickup not because he was consistently horrible but because his contract was. He's a decent LG but is being paid way too much. If Mare can't beat out whoever we bring in to compete, he's gone. Chambers, I'll maybe give a pass since our WR coach was horrible but he needs to rebound. Likewise for McMichael.

Carter counts $6.5mil
James counts $4mil
McMike only counts $1.3mil

Lets get the facts straight now...

Actually, Holiday would cost more. Why? Because in order to re-sign Holiday...he would need a signing bonus. This signing bonus would probably be the highest of the DTs available.

Carter...can restructure and cost us much less...and no signing bonus. And even if they gave him a signing bonus to restructure his deal...it would be a whole lot less than Holiday.

Holiday wont be back next year. Believe that.

Mueller wants to sign an OLineman and a rushing OLB. He also mentioned wanting to add speed to the WR spot. So Welker wont be back either.

Manny Wright, Rod Wright, Vickerson, Evans, and Carter can all compete for Holiday's vacated spot. So no worries.

Thanks but I have to question McMike - after his new contract I doubt very highly that could be his new cap #. Anyone know for sure? BTW I did preface that I didn't know the exact #'s.

Now we have a new excuse for Chambers, it was the wide recievers coach.......The guy has to go or be paid like the #2 he is.....

It had to be something. The QBs or the coaches, because you dont go from a pro bowler to a nobody in one year

Pro Bowler doesn't mean alot nowadays - heck Romo is a pro bowler - now that is a joke! I think Chambers needs a burner across from him - he can't handle double teams. He does not get good separation from DB's but has the ability to make the difficult catches. I like Booker and Chambers as #2 and #3 guys. Welker should not be in the main rotation IMO - too slow - maybe a #4 or #5. We need a #1 burner or at least a field stretcher. AND IF we keep Booker he needs a new pair of CLEATS so he can keep his footing after a catch!

I dotn see Welker going. he was the only all year consistant reciever we had this year. Sure handed and clutch on third down, and he's also a better than average kick/punt returner so hmmm...why would we get read of him?

Welker is not only agood player, he's fairly cheap in comparison. He earns his money.

On the D-line, Nosetackle is the only position we should be worried about. We could use a marquee Cornerback like Samuels or Nate Clements, or alternatively, either lance Briggs or that chap from the Ravens at the LB position. Personally, I doubt we'll get one of those LB's, too much competition, but I'd be happhy with that guard from San Diego and one of the top two Cornerbacks, AND resigning Vonnie Holiday...

well

I didn´t like our WR coach (last seson), but remember that two seson ago CHambers went to the Pro B... with CB as a WR coach....

Randy McMichael, TE, $5.4M, 2009

Not sure where you got your # from. 5.4M for McMike is crazy! Especially when you use him as a blocking TE...

Here is a list just posted of potential casualties:

Chris Chambers, WR, $7.3M, 2009

Daunte Culpepper, QB, $6.9M, 2013

Kevin Carter, DE, $6.48M, 2009

Randy McMichael, TE, $5.4M, 2009

Jeno James, G, $4M, 2009

Seth McKinney, G, $4M, 2007

Marty Booker, WR, $3.7M, 2008

Joey Harrington, QB, $3.5M, 2008

L.J. Shelton, G, $3.2M, 2009

Dan Wilkinson, DT, $2.2M, 2008

Bennie Anderson, G, $2.1M, 2007

Of this list - the only for sure I'd keep is Shelton and lock him in next to Carey. Booker isn't bad if healthy and C-Pep is a wild card. Everyone else is overpaid based on teir production this past year IMO. McKinney and Anderson have to be gone - that is an easy 6M. JH is not worth 3.5 as a backup.
