Didn't he injure himself? That is clearly against section 12.1.5.67-69 in the Miami Dolphins player rule book.
12.1.5.67 states "any bump bruise, sprained/broken bone or any other type of slight "injury" can and often will result in immediate placement on IR and/or free agency."
12.1.5.68 states "If you are young and your injury is severe and season ending (and you have shown enough promise) you can be placed on IR to compete the following season in training camp."
12.1.5.69 states "If you are proven to be consulting any doctor other than the team's doctor, you will be released. The team doctor understands the team's needs better than some "professional". Also, if you have been slipping some prior to the injury, you are likely to be released. If you have succumbed to this injury by not going full speed during a practice or game, you will be humiliated by the entire coaching staff... and then released."
I believe Casey Cramer fell under 12.1.5.69. He talked to an undesignated doctor about an alleged "ankle sprain". The team doctor told him it was just a bad bruise and to "suck it up panzy boy!"
Did i mention Sparano's brother was a sports doctor?
