What happened to cutting Matt Moore?

LOL the troll is strong in this thread. Bottom line no reason to release him unless there is a cap crunch. He is an above average backup that is limited in skill. The only way he starts above Tannehill is if Tanne gets injured. Keep up the delusion as long as you like though, it is entertaining.

Cut him. Draft AJ McCarran. If Tannehill stinks McCarran is new starter
I don't have a decent handle on when AJ McCarran will get drafted. If he's available in the 4th round, he could be a tempting draft pick for value as Tannehill's long term insurance. I am comfortable keeping Matt Moore as current backup QB. He has also been a good mentor to Ryan - (not all backups have these attributes). He's a good but expensive fit.

Many of them fear Matt Moore. They dont want anyone on the roster that may threaten Tannehill.

Tannehill no longer has his mommy Jeff Ireland to protect him. Matt Moore will push him in the preseason as a legitimate threat. No one wants to hear that but RT better figure out that pathetic deep ball this year quickly because Jeffy isn't around to protect him. I am all for seeing RT succeed and am a huge fan but not quite sure where year 3 takes him.

Guys...nobody, I mean nobody, is beating down Miami's door to sign Matt Moore....and Matt Moore knows he has no future other than a back up. If he did, he'd be asking for a trade or enter free agency. He can ride the clipboard for Tannehill, for the next 10 years, and become a multimillionaire with a brain !

Yeah, it would be a great move to cut Matt Moore for a guy he beat by a combined 31 points in two meetings two years ago. Smart move bro.

First of all, did I say anything about signing Fitz? No, it was an example of how many teams are cutting decent guys for a LOT less than we are paying our backup. Second, the QB's don't play directly against each other so that is a meaningless point. By your logic, Wilson is 5 times the QB that Manning is, correct?

The point I was making, bro, is that with all the decent available options that are going to be out there (FA's, cuts, draft) we have leverage to have him re-do his contract or explore other options if needed. He's getting paid a LOT of money to be a backup. We might not need the cap room right now, but that could change in a big hurry.

The only chance the Dolphins have the next few seasons is if Tannehill continues to improve and begins to become elite like Brady, Manning and Luck. The Dolphin are not taking down the Brady/Manning led AFC with Matt Moore. If Tanny does not continue to improve then all of these current moves mean nothing because we have to draft and start over with a new QB. Starks, Wake, Grimes, Albert, etc. will not even be around to see the next QB in year three when he may be ready to lead us on a Superbowl run.

T-Hill threw 25 td's last season, fix the offensive line and give him a chance.

Find another backup and trade Matt Moore

I am with you on that but yet I feel that he is worth the money and he is a quality backup: regardless of what happens to the guy, I will be be fine. Again, who is our third-string QB. I remember Philbin singing praises about him last year so, again, I am with you on what you posted. Go Fins!!

At this point, hang on to him and see if he has more value right before the trade deadline. Not like we really need the cap space at this point.

Matt Moore pushing Tannehill? that's like a newborn baby pushing Rosie O Donnell off a cliff
