For the past couple games all they have been running out of it is ronnie or ricky runs, most of which end up in 5 to 7 yard gains but thats pretty much it. no double reverses or flip back to pennington must be saving something for the jets.. or did they show the whole arsenal too soon...nah that cant be it can it??

whats ur take on it guys and gals

i was being nice to ronnie and ricky but it is more like 0 to 3 but occasionally theres a 5 to 7 yarder they must be lulling defenses to sleep with it something big has to happen soon with it or else there harvesting it and just letting it die on its own

there are only so many things you can do out of that formation. i'm sure it doesn't help that we are seriously beat up at guard now. i think its risk reward, in the close games we have been playing would you really wanna try something crazy and risk a terrible turnover or hugely negative play?

Like any formation a team consistantly runs, if they do the same things out of it constantly, teams will become wise to it. The Wildcat has gotten so much publicity a team would have to have a very bad coaching staff not to prepare for it. What Henning needs to do is throw in a couple of surprises every 2nd game to keep the defense honest.

Its mainly why teams run end-arounds, there hoping to catch the defense off guard and make the defense a bit wary of un-predicability.

I still believe that they are trying different personnel setups and seeing how they work leading up to the end of season cuts. This season was supposed to be a throwaway year but then the Pennington deal happened and that changed everything.

Saving the big stuff for the Playoffs. The fact that we keep running it also means opposing teams have to spend time game planning for it.

I keep asking every week why Ronnie hasn't thrown more out of the wildcat, he had the touchdown pass in the first New England game, and I can only recall one other pass by him, and it appeared to be a busted play.

This is the perfect way to get them off keying on the run in that formation, yet they seem afraid to do it.

i cannot blame them, ronnie is a running back, not a quarterback, we have already shown that he can throw the ball, which is enough to keep the defenses honest, but unless someone is totally bare *** running down the field alone, i wouldn't want to see ronnie throwing the football.

Really only left with a Ronnie inside run or a hand off to Ricky to run to the outside. I like Ronnie running out of the Wildcat formation because he has great vision and it gives him the time to find the holes. But those holes become very hard to find when the defense is 99% sure your going to run the ball. Also the fact we are weak at the Guard positions does'nt make things easier.

I hope there's more to it then what we've seen the last couple of weeks. Maybe something big is brewing behind closed doors?

There are exactly 14 plays in our playbook that can be run from the WildCat formation. So its not limited. If I had to take a guess, I would say we ran about 7 of those plays. Meaning we have 7 more plays from the WildCat that we didnt run yet. So there is a good possiblity we are saving the plays for the Jets game. I don't know each exact play, but I did read up on ESPN Dolphins news saying we had 14. I know Ronnie keeping it and running up the middle isn't working tho. So I am very anxious to see us run our other plays in the Jets game & playoffs.

Their 14 variations and most of is depent on OL .Intitally till the NE game every team sat back and waited to see what the heck is being run to stop in. NE rushed LB and safeties in flank to shutdown the reverse completely. then the every one crashing in with NO GAP responsiblity means ronnie cannot pick a hole as no one is defending gaps as people are crashing in. People forget he is a RB who`s instinct is to run not stand reading defences .

But their is a gap which NE gave on the non reverse side .Now every team is copying this but it does not matter as ronnie is not seeing it fast enough to run a sweep for some reason as again he is not a QB .By constantly moving this gap you can assure that he is not going to lock .

The unbalanced line and stuff works in confusing the defence to wait and watch mode which is being abandoned as it in crash mode.

Ronnie already showed he is left handed thus giving away the fact that when he rolls with WR blocking the TE is the only option and as long as you cover him close he unlike a qb is not going to be accurate.that is a interception waiting to happen. its really a once only trick pony.espeically a pick is going for 6 with no one to beat as the offence is bunched on the other side.
