Seriously, losing breeds negativity. When we finally get it turned around again, this place will become more positive again. :up:

Losing may breed negativity but why doesn't it douse my optimism every year? It seems like Nublar and myself are some of the few that have a small glimmer of hope. I find it better to be positive and potentially face negativity rather than doing it any other way.
 
Be proud to be a true fan because only a true fan can experience true enjoyment.

Well, you see, I'm better than all of you. It's not my fault. I'll still shake your hands, have a beer, sign your autographs, pat you on the (back)

But at the end of the day, everything you say is wrong, everything that I say is right.

As far as the fans stuff goes, pretty much what everyone else in here has said. Losing divides fan boards.. because it brings about two sides: you either see this team in a positive light, or you see it in a negative light. With winning, there's generally only seeing the team in a positive light.. with a few negative guys here and there. Just how it goes.

We really could use less whining and bias around here though.

I understand your position as I have been there somehow as about three years ago my son was diagnosed with leukemia.
Fortunately it was a wrong diagnosis, but the required analyses and tests allow us to grow in several ways.
You know, oncology room at a hospital is one of those places that nobody wants for children; the pain is reflexed at every face of these kids, but in the same time their strength and love for living offers the most touching feeling. Everyone can learn a lot about bravery from them, also we learned about maturity and attitude for living, and the power of a simple smile that makes a big difference.

Returning to football, we the dolfans ...
... still love to remember the 1972 perfect season.
... can't accept that Dan Marino never got his SB ring.

So what happened to us as fans? Well we know that ....
... since 2000, there's no Dan Marino to try to win every single game.
... since 2006 our defense allows big plays every gameday.
... in 2007 we were laughingstock of these league with a 1-16 record.

That leaded to losing the blind faith we got on this team.

But there have been few but good days since Marino left, as ...
... I remember Greg Camarillo scoring on overtime.
... I still jump screaming while remembering wearing orange jerseys and A.J. Feeley winning over then unstoppable Patriots.
... I enjoyed like a kid with new toy when Chad Pennington won over Favre and Green Gang in Meadowland.
... it was a poem to see Chad Henne throw a deep cannonball for Ted Ginn Jr, who also has his dolphin cleats in Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio after becoming the first player to score two 100 yards TD in a single game. All against the Jets.

So it's a good time to enjoy football and support everyone wearing aqua & orange.
 
The Dolphins set franchise expectations impossibly high for all fans by winning two early Super Bowls and achieving the only "PERFECT" season; you can't really set the bar any higher than that. That generation passed down those expecations to the next.

Several years of moderate success later and along comes Dan Marino, who quickly leads us back to the Super Bowl but loses. Still, a new QB standard now been set, to "Dan Marino". The "Perfect Qarterback" to lead the the "Perfect Team" back to where we all believed we were entiltled to be; it was in our lineage.

Suffice it to say expectations were again VERY HIGH. For the better part of the next decade, Miami was dominant on offense behind Marino and almost always made the playoffs. Unfortunately each playoff venture ended before reaching the Super Bowl (I hate you Buffalo!).

Flash forward a few years and Jimmy Johnson has replaced the Legendary Don Shula... Again, HIGH EXPECTATIONS. Johnson was a championship coach with the Hurricanes and won two Super-Bowls coaching the Cowboys. Finally! We had someone to place Miami back in it's rightful position of prominance and dominance.

WRONG! Again, it was not to be. Marino had passed his Prime and he and Jimmy didn't get along. Dan finally retired after a HUMILIATING playoff loss. Dan Marino left the Dolphins without a Super Bowl win, but the standard for Dolphins QBs had been set. Honestly, it's been downhill ever since.

Dolphins fans have always had high expectations because most of us have been hearing about the Perfect Season and Dan Marino (arguably the perfect quarterback) since we were kids. Yet each year we seem to get farther and farther away from where we think we should rightfully be. We are the product of years of frequently-renewed, super-high expectations that have been met with years of ever declining results culminating in frustration, exascerbation, disillusionment, and dissapointment. In the end, I think that's what makes us a little different from other fan bases, most teams don't have that kind of history. Many do, but most don't.

Anyway, that's my take on it. Best wishes to your son and I wish you strength for you and your family.
 
May God heal your son so you both can enjoy watching Dolphins football for many years to come. GO DOLPHINS!
 
I could easily complain about a lot of things that I don't agree with, but in the end I have come to the conclusion that there isn't a thing I can do about it. So its just better for my health to sit back and hope for the best.

As NYjunc said, its all fans man. Team wins all is good, team goes into a funk, especially as long as we have, all hell breaks lose. Fans have not really changed but the way they express their feelings and frustrations have. Its only been a little over 10 years that one could pick up all the college and pro football sites and it had imediate impact as soon as word got around about them. Before that there were a select few sites and lots of emails being passed along.

Before becoming a Miami fan I was a die Hard NY Giants fan, still am in some way. I remember going to Yankee stadium as a kid to watch them. Then they moved to Jersey right close to where I lived. No internet to speak of then in the mid 70s. You could judge the feeling of the fans by how much crap was thrown on the field and how loud the boos were and believe me, the boos were loud at Giants stadium in the 70s.

Even when Sims arrived at QB and they had their run. You think Henne is frustrating ? LMAO. One game Sims was good and two after that he suckked, bad. His defense won their SB for them. Then THEY MOVED IN, THE JETS. It was like a foreign intruder. Really pissssed all Giants fans off but looking back, cannot blame the Hess family for moving. Shea Stadium was built as a part of the 64 Worlds Fair exhibit. The city refused to put any more money into the stadium for football. The stands literally moved on tracks to go from baseball to football. Well, Northeast weather froze those babies up reeeeeeeeeeeeeeal quick. After that, the place turned into a dump, especially for football.

Sorry to ramble but again, the fans of every single team that is not doing good voice strong opinions. Fire the coach, fire the GM, OC DC list goes on and on. Stadium blows, team blows, the world blows but believe me, once the winning starts, it all goes away.

Fans from every team want a Bill Cowher to coach. They want an MVP QB an All Pro Oline and Dline and rest of the team for that matter. I too miss the days sitting in the cold parking lot, tailgating with a dozen buddies and sometimes not even going in the game. Win or lose it was a day out with my son, good food, hell of a lot of laughs and some good beer drinking. Sure we were unhappy when we lost but for the most part ? It all went away the next day. No internet to hammer the keys of sorrow on, no blogs, no phone ins to radio and media. Just you and your fan buddies and like I said, next day all was well and you looked forward to being in the parking lot the next home game.

I miss that part of it, really do. I may proclaim I hate the Jets ( I do, born and bread into me ) their fans ( not really,) most part they are great people. Their are *******s cheering for every team in the NFL. Heck, when I go to the Jets games now we play there I stay with my sister. Her and her whole family are friggin Jets fans. I forgive her for that. Just the same, fans are fans. Things go well, all is beautiful.

You think this is bad ? LOL, go up North East and be a Jets or Giants fan. Crap, when things go south not only do 80 times the amount of people get on the internet, you have the largest media market in the world hammering on you, day after day after day and they make S Florida media and news look like Kindergarten when they hammer players or coaches.

So, just understand, we are all here because we love the game of football and want only the best for our home team. Thats really the jist of all things on the internet.
