What happens if we are unable to upgrade our QB situation next year, but we manage to bring in a wide receiver with a proven track record of success. (For example Reggie Wayne) Let's say the player has a year far below expectations. Do we trash the player? Say he's horrible. I believe a good portion of the board will do this. Do we believe he had an off year and will be more productive next season? Or do we admit that Miami isn't a good place at this point for wide receivers to prosper? Or are there any other ideas?

terrel and moss would be the only wr that would be good here imo maybe holt and chad johnson

any big name FA pickup that has a bad 1st season will be called over rated and over paid. or a product of a great system.

I was thinking product of a great system. Especially if it's a guy like Reggie Wayne who has been playing in the best system in the league. People would expect him to put up the same numbers as he did in Indy and in my opinion that's not reasonable. People on this board seem to enjoy bashing our players.

you can bring in any WR you want but if you can't get him the ball he will not do you any good.

Unfortunately many fans will bash anyone who does not live up to their expectations immediately! Many here have a win-now attitude that must have rubbed off from 'ole Wanny's final panicky season!

Reggie Wayne will not leave the Colts, The Colts are very high on resigning him. Besides that I dont think bringing in a great receiver is going to solve the QB issue. What good is it if the QB cant get the ball to him. I mean I am all for great catches but I would rather have a great QB and a #2 receiver then vice versa.

Remember these facts about Wayne:

1. He plays on the other side of M. Harrison, the most consistent receiver in the game.

2. He catches passes from Manning, the league's best QB.

3. Their offense is conducive to huge stats for receivers.

Somebody like TO or Moss can make our QB look like a star our there. But I really don't want either of them.

My only idea is to make damn sure we draft or pickup via trade or free agency a QB. It is a MUST! No WR can consistently carry an offense or make plays without the QB to throw him the ball...see Moss's production now...which may be due more to injuries than Kerry Collins. If T. Owens had played his whole career with Jay Fiedler he would probably be a mediocre NFL reciever now.

exactly what b-lo said, hes got tons of talent around him, less pressure on him, put him on the browns, see how good he does

Without a quarterback it'd be a waste of money. Besides we already have enough talent with Booker, Chambers, McMichael, R&R to catch the ball.

well , well, well , tel me ace 88 how in Hillliary's bra do you expect the dolphins to improve in the passing game. let me guess, we continue to use receivers who are slow as a turtle. Hum that doesn't sound like wining football to me. ( sarcasum) look we need t.o its better for us then for him to go to the jets and then burn us while our receivers play checkers on the sidelines.
nobody raised this much hell when jimmy johsnon drafted john avery instead of randy moss and look how that turned out. its time to stop this fretting over wht t.o. will or will not do . hells bells i want a reciever who put the fear of god into our rivials.
there is apart of me that agrees with you Ace but i think we should go for the gusto and stop with this wannyisum stuff.

They may not be able to afford him. They also have to resign Edge and Freeney this offseason.

I wasn't talking about Wayne in particular, just using him as an example. I agree with having a solid QB and a #2 receiver. A lot people are talking about upgrading the WR position but I think we have a lot of positions that should be addressed first.
