What I believe is really going on with Fisher

maybe...i used to think that mike lombardi was pretty much spot on with his insider info but the last 2 years at least i've gotten the feeling that he's another guy throwing stuff out to see if it sticks in some instances...for instance can anyone confirm that a few years ago miami was in fact peddling ronnie brown for a second round pick like lombardi said they were??? i've never seen anything that confirms this

i still think though ireland is playin a roll in how much guys want to come here as hc's...its weighing on their minds imo

It wouldn't surprise me if they were.

But anyway I don't take this as "inside info" with all the connotations that come with. It's a simple fact that Harbaugh and Lombardi are tight from their days together in Oakland and they talk all the time. They're close enough that even though both knew Lombardi didn't stand a chance of getting the job, Harbaugh convinced the 49ers and Lombardi to interview for the GM position. Lombardi said he knew he wasn't getting the job but Jim begged him to interview so he did.

Lombardi wasn't breaking the "inside scoop" according to his "sources". He was just talking about things his friend told him. For instance, he said a lot of people don't know that the 49ers NEVER raised their money offer to Jim, despite all the rampant rumors out there about bidding wars between Miami, San Fran and Stanford. He was just plainly speaking about the situation and said honestly Miami already had an uphill climb because of the local ties and the way the Dolphins organization is structured, but what killed it for Jim was who Ross brought on the plane with him. And yes, he made it clear he was talking about Ireland.

yeah its not like harbaugh brought in ross to use him as leverage in negotiations with the 9ers...he ended up signing a 5 year $25 mil deal (which was peanuts compared to what ross would have given him) to coach the 9ers...i'm betting that the biggest factors in him passing was the stringing out of sparano and him seeing through it and having to take on jeff ireland...i'm sure the west coast thing played into it also but i think he was ultimately turned off by the fact we still had a head coach while we were looking for one and having to take on a guy he didn't know or trust in ireland as his gm...and frankly i can't blame him on either account...ross butchered things with his sparano handling...anyone would take notice

Add to the fact (along with all of the favorable factors already mentioned) that the 49er's were clearly a a better team than the Dolphins.

that team was awful til harbaugh came in there and changed the dynamic...he would have done the same here also...i don't buy the 9ers were better off than we were at all...except for maybe a less competitive division

A little gimmicky for my tastes. He's being touted because he changed the offense a little bit to accommodate Tim Tebow but for the most part I haven't been all THAT impressed with how they've used him. If you're impressed by that stuff there are dozens of guys in the college ranks that do it better. And it was John Fox's call to make those changes to the offense, not Mike McCoy's.

I like Rick Dennison, Vic Fangio and Chuck Pagano as remaining NFL assistants we could interview. I'm sticking to them.

Proven Head Coach or Bust. If not Fisher, then Billick or Shotty...

Why?

Because selecting the right Assistantoftheweek who will blossom into a great Head Coach requires more insight from the Dolphins than we've seen for a decade.

Michael Silver just confirmed a lot of what I've been saying on Twitter, saying that the sense he's getting is that the ball is firmly in the Dolphins' court on this and that they'll have to blow it in order for Fisher to end up with the Rams...but that the Dolphins may do just that.

Silver is one the reporter I have been paying close attention to on this. He and Fisher go way back, and Silver has not really been putting all kinds of BS out there on this.

And Silver just endorsed what Peter King and Adam Schefter have been saying about the situation. In other words, he believes all three are listening to the same source.

For better or worse, this is all going to go down in the next few hours.

well, time for new sources i guess ck!!

just ribbin' ya a bit. like i said, its a guessing game. media guys RARELY and i mean RARELY get truely inside info.

teams learned a long time ago, if you want something to be a secret, DONT TELL ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH MEDIA!!

and if a person is getting some "inside info", you can bet its some ones guess or its something the team wants out.

dont feel bad ck, plenty of bogus source info was givien to a LOT of folks in this fisher drama.

any "sources" say who we are leaning towards now?

What's funny is you actually think my sources were wrong. You might try re-reading.

My fear of Ross have a battered wife type thing for Jeff Ireland appears to have been proven correct.

Too bad. I was actually beginning to hope the next few years of watching football would be fun.

Looks like Fisher wasn't all gung ho on Ireland.

That's not my read on it. He's going to want some personnel power wherever he goes after what happened to him in Tennessee. He didn't want all the power. In fact, the chances are he's going to end up with more power in St. Louis than he was willing to accept here. He just wanted some say in things.

The story is that Stephen Ross has a ball gag with the word "IRELAND" written on it that he refuses to take out of his mouth.
