1. The Defense

The defense was playing lights out up until the last drive of the 4th quarter. Turner was completely shutdown. We didn't give up any huge plays down field in the passing game, and forced Ryan to check down quite a bit. I think we should be ok vs the Colts, seeing as how they are much more 1 demensional.

2. Phillip Merling

Merling was a force today, getting 1 sack and multiple hurries. Atlanta has a good offensive line. Hopefully Merling will continue to make progress.

3. Pass Rush

Seemed to me like Ryan had hardly any time to throw, and almost always a defender in his face. We even had 2 or 3 sacks. Very nice game by our front 7. As mentioned above, Atlanta's O-line is no joke.

4. Jason Taylor

Looks like he still has it, enough said.

5. Next Week vs the Colts

I've got a feeling the Colts are gonna have a long night on MNF. They did not play well vs Jacksonville. However, if Miami cannot get anything going on offense like today, we will get beaten again. I'm sure Sparano will address the ball security issue we had today. Miami will be looking for redemption, which is unfortunate for and injured Colts team.

6. Trade?

Today it became clear to me that we will not be a good offensive team until we get a big name playmaker at the WR position. It is so easy for team to stop our running game, because they really don't have much on the outside. I know Parcells does not like big name WR's, but after today, I am on board for a trade, as long as it's not Brandon Marshall. I would throw a 2,3, and 6 at Arizona for Boldin. I'd try first with 2nd and 6th. We HAVE the defense... if we would get the offense going, this would be a scary team.

(Don't even post if your gonna mention putting Henne in to spark offense..)

i disagree with a lot of this.

Merling had a great game yes, great swim move on a pass rush to add to that.

Langford also played solid... both i was pleased are stepping up

we missed so many tackles, especially secondary missing some important ones. our LB's were in position to make big plays, but never shedded the blockers quick to get to the RB. most of the stuffs against the run was created by our safeties filling up quick and due to our defensive line taking up space and flowing well to the ball.

what a tackle by Vontae as well in the backfield on one run off to the left tackle!!! so quick

Pass Rush: besides a few plays and a good amount of the first quarter, there was basically no pass rush... Ryan got to sit and pick apart our defense for so many third down conversions. it killed us... he never did anything spectacular, he jsut got his job done and we made it easy for him.

I agree the Defence played good Vs the run. Vs the pass not so much. We need a big playmaker on O like many others are saying. Weather it be TE or WR.

What I like about this game is knowing full on how futile this team is... we may have a decent defense but if we have an offense that can't be competitive we will be lucky to win 3 games

are you kidding me?? if it wasnt for ryan missing his receivers we wouldve been burned so many more times. its our secondary... still. but yes, we did play good against the run.

I think we will look much better vs the Colts. Playing vs the Falcons in their home opener in the dome did not help us at all. It is only the first game, correction will be made. If we're gonna trade for a big name offensive playmaker, i think we do it NOW. That'll give us time to get him settled in, before the season is lost. I don't think this was the real Miami Dolphins we saw today. Very trashy play. I wouldn't expect the same play next week.

OK, lets play that game. If it wasn't for Fasano fumbling 2 times, we would've won this game.. Football is a game of mistakes, and today we made more than Atlanta.

I disagree with this. The pass defense didnt play terrible but they didnt play great. Sean Smith let Roddy White turn him with a fake in the first quarter where Matt Ryan made a bad throw. That would go for 6 if its Peyton Manning making the throw.

Colts will always be a threat as long as they have Peyton Manning. He changes plays up at the line of scrimmage all day long, expect him to pick on our rookie corners too. Our defense better step up the coverage for Monday night, guys were wide open at times today where they got easy first downs to keep drives going.

Well if we had Peyton Manning at QB, then we would've won this game. All the "ifs" in football are irrelevant. And if your going to look at it like that then look at both sides.

We probably win IF Fasano doesn't fumble twice

We score a TD IF Pat White doesn't overthrow Ginn

Pennington would've done better IF he had better protection.

See? We had a lot of things not go our way. There are corrections to be made, as their always will be.

As far as the trade goes, I agree. Don't see it happening, but if it were to happen, I think it'd be now.

Peyton Manning part... I dunno. They didn't look too good today versus a very disapointing Jacksonville team.

When Pat White shows the slightest bit of ability to complete a pass like that, I'll get excited. As it was, it was a waste of a much-needed down, like every Pat White play was.

Our run defense was quite studly. Hopefully we can maintain that through the year and fix everything else.

to say our defense played lights out today till the last drive of the 4th quarter is just crazy. the fact is like ppl alluded to is if matt ryan made accurate throws to his wide open recievers we would have allowed a lot more than 19 pts. also every single time they had 3rd and long they converted. i feel like this happens way to often and its so predictable that u no its not if they r going to convert but how they will.
