Yah I said it. If we went 7-5 the remainder of the season and ended up with a .500 record, I'd be happy. Campbell to me, at that point, would be a proven winner with a difficult schedule and impossible situation handed to him. If he can come out of that with a winning record as coach, he deserves his props and should have a job at HC unless Ross can convince someone like a Gruden or Cowher to replace him.

If they finish 9-7 (maybe make the playoffs), there's no way I'd replace him. The guy has "it."

So, he would have to have a +2 winning record, with a team he didn't assemble, with an offense/defense scheme not of his choosing, with a coaching staff he has inherited for the most part, with no off-season to implement his culture...

Seems like a far assessment.

You have to have the players to be a winner and we dont, especially on defense.

Not every issue on this team is due to lack of motivation. We have a lot of guys who just are not good enough, shepherd, thomas, misi, fox, aikens, bowman, brice mccain. Some who have severe flaws in their over all game, mitchell, wake and vernon are not worth a chit at stopping the run, this year or last year.

The team is down and became unmotivated because it became apparent to them when the real games started that this team was not loaded enough yet to be a playoff contender. It was a cold slap to the face after such an emotional, promising off season and camp. Picking on teams in pre season who didnt game plan for them. When teams did start game planning, it was a nightmare.

People are puting demands and expectations on campbell that he or any other coach could achieve. He doesnt have the players this year to win. In my opinion, if he can get this team 4 more wins, he should be a strong candidate for coach of the year.

I like coach campbell, a lot, and weather he wins many more games or not, i wish he would get the h/c gig with a fresh offseason, draft and camp along with a remake of this defense. If ross and the fans are hanging wins on him to evaluate, they picked the wrong year.

Extremely well put. Nice post.

I would be impressed with 7-5, but Miami must make sure and do its proper due diligence. In other words, Ross will mess it up

The only way He has a shot at Monkey Ears retaining him is if he gets us to the playoffs, which is very unlikely, or if we finish a game out of contention and he amazes Monkey Ears in the interview.

sad but true. If this guy can show the leadership and passion and mold the team into his image we will be good. I'd love to see this guy get the job based on pretending it's a 12 game season and seeing how he does. Heck, winning 6 more games would be something because we were headed for 2-14. But Ross is so dumb he will go after the next nick Sabah, land another philbin and Campbell will be a great HC after taking a coordinator roll for a few years somewhere. You just know that's how it's going to be.

you want worse / better draft position or us to win 10 games and make the playoffs?

Both. 8-8 is worst case. Worst draft position. Instead of hiring a new regime Campbell might start to look enticing. Tannehill won't have answered any of the questions concerning him and the excuse brigade will be out in full force. And Tannenbaum will certainly survive and gain more power.

What I can't decide on is what is the worst way to get to the worst case scenario of 8-8, get to 8-6 and lose the last 2? Or get to 6-8 and win two meaningless games against two teams resting starters?

I like your assessment OP - I think if you push it to 8-4 then it becomes a slam dunk. Even at 7-5, not sure i'd want to get rid of a young winning coach that was able to turn this boat around. I'm sure the decision will be easier once we see what campbell's team looks like through the rest of the season.

I want to see 2 things. They play smart football and they play hard. HCDC isn't going to be able to work miracles with this paper thin holey roster.

I expect you can take an all pro corner at the end of their career that dominates with bump coverage. This imaginary player is top 3 at his position by statistics. Force him to play 8 yards off the ball, and he might just be in the bottom 1/3rd by the end of the season. The point is it is possible to misuse talent to that level. We just do not know this teams' potential.

All I want to see is how the team respond to Campbell. Can they put a 40 spot on Tennessee this week? Doubtful, but if it happens I can see it being a huge boost. If they come out methodical and Mariota hands the Titans an early lead, the team might leave the field immediately and head to the airport.

7-5? Man, that's optimism. I'll be happy if we win more than five games, total.

Yep. Ross will go after some past his prime big name. Campbell will be a successful head coach, elsewhere, in a few years.
