Keypoints on somethings I saw last night

*Overall Starting D looked Good, Looks like we got our pass rush Back.

*JT-Do you guys remember that year he did all those commercials during the offseason and ended up having a horrible season that year, then the following offseason he worked his tailoff and I beleive that was the year he got his DPOY award. He looks to be in that mode again, he has worked his tailoff this offseason and he might be primed to have a great season. He looks refreshed and looks like he is enjoying playing again.

*Ricky-Looked very explosive, very strong. He might be the most instintictive runner we have ever had.

*S.Smith-He is arrogant, confident and an athletic freak. Everything you want in a CB. He is no where near a complete CB yet, but he is impressing me everyday. Did you guys catch him talking it up with Holt yesterday at the line? He has this "Ya I am young, but I know I am good" arrogance while at the same he looks like he is having a great time playing football.

Starting OL-We need to choose our RG already and let the unit gel, they had very little cohesion last night.

D.Thomas-The offense just seemed to flow a little better when he was in there instead of Murphy. He is so strong, get it over with alraedy and name him the starter.

J.Grove-Hope he picks it up, because I was not too impessed last night, there NT was having his way with our OL.

T.Ginn- Everyone knows hes fast, its a given. But damn last night he just looked so quick out there. I loved his catch he made commnig across the middle of the field. All that offseason talk about how much he has been working on his receivers skills really showed up last night.

P.Turner-Had one or two drops last night but it was raining so i give him a pass. Did look pretty good when he did catch the ball.

B.Hartline-I never liked this kid, I didnt understand why the dolphins picked a 2nd reciever at that point in the draft so I held it against him. I am also pulling hard for Turner to develop and be that Reciever we have been looking for some time. But I have admit I think Hartline runs crisper Routes. There was a couple of plays yesterday when the ball wasnt thrown his way that he just beat out his defender pretty badly. He has something about him that I think he just might be a decent receiver for us, going to start paying a little closer attention to him the next 3 weeks.

Armstrong-See ya.

C.Williams-Boy is that guy fast, OMG! He screwed up a couple of punts early on but damn did he make up for it on the kickoffs. To me it seemed he almost broke every kickoff. If he keeps this up the rest of the preseason I will be curious to see what the fins do about him, how do you cut him, or the better question is how do you fit him into this roster.

Wilford-Glad he made that catch but I still dont see him making this roster. I do see that the Trifecta are trying to make a case to keep him, as I feel he is being given more of a chance then Haynos Who I really want to see developped. We will see.

Henne- He made 1 mistake and had a couple of good throws last night. The difference in Arm Strength is apparent between him and Penny. But Penny is our starter no question.

C.Wake-Got his arse broken on one of his first plays, but rebounded back to apply nice pressure a few times. I want to see him against better offensive talent. I hope Sprano gives him 1 or 2 plays with the 1st unit to judge exactly where he is at.

Starks-did you guys catch that nasty hit he gave the Qb? Ouch! I think he keeps his starter position opposite langford.

Crowder/Ayodele-Was very active yesterday, much more then any other time I can remember last season.

Bell/Wilson-They both were around the ball alot during running plays. Excited to see them throughout the season.

Davis- Some mental mistakes which I am sure will be addressed this week and shouldnt happen again. Definately falling behind to Smith but will have plenty of opporunities to showcase why he was chosen as the #1 pick, he is very physical.

White-Didnt do to bad, had two bad passes hit the floor but aside from that you can see there is alot of zip with his passes. His stats dont look good, but the recievers dropped a ton of passes for him yesterday. But when he ran, boy is he fast, just needs to learn how to slide!!! He looks like he is going to break.

Would like to add:

Jason Allen- Just might make this team, Eric Green is so bad that Jason Allen just might slip a roster front in front of him.

Green(fletcher)- See above

Missed the game myself...

Did u guys catch Tony McDaniels wow man was playing like a BEAST... Cant believe u didnt mention him wow i was surprised by his efforts and Lil Bess aswell ...

Nice evaluation Chubbs.

I was disappointed with the mental errors from Davis too... It was all over the field, not just in coverage but also ST's... He seems a little like those guys that skate through college on athletic ability alone and then need to learn to WORK for the first time when they reach the show. All of the criticism levelled his way heading into the draft were character issues... It did seem like he gave up on the tipped interception as well...

The kid needs to realize that in the NFL, freakish athletic ability is simply not enough. JMO.

Tyrone Culver was also a ballhawk last night and Clemons looked good aswell. IMO we are set and set deep at safety.

Eric Green is atrocious. He shouldn't make the next round of cuts. There's too much talent on this football team to make excusses for another FA mistake. Nathan Jones was playing like a man possessed.

Paul Soliai caught my attention a pair of times. He continues to play high but looks very strong. On one play he beats the crap out of a double-team, clogging the middle nicely and as he begins to chase the play down he stops to adjust his face mask...

I have to eat crow about Chris Williams. We have to find a way to fit this kid on to the roster, 5'8 or 3'8, that is one dangerous tiny person.

Cameron Wake got MURDERED on his first play. I think it was the RB that came over to help the tackle and the guy just pulverized Wake. What a rollercoaster ride that play was. I was running my mouth about Wake to my girlfriend all night long about how he was a monster in the CFL and such. He lines up and I get butterflies in my stomach. He beats LIGHTNING off the line of scrimmage which sends me to my feet and the next thing I knew I felt like I wanted to throw up- didn't know if he'd still have a pulse after the hit. But he got back up and got off the line just as fast the very next play. If we can teach this guy to cover we've got ourselves one hell of a pass rusher.

IMO Pat White- and I was NOT a fan of the pick- definitely looked like the most deadly QB out there, far and away the most dangerous QB. All but a pair of passes hit his targets square in the hands. His passes were sharp, tight, and accurate and his arm was the only skill that was ever in question. He appeared confident, never lost or troubled. His reads were steadfast. On the play Moore made the learn to slide comment you could see his football instincts kick in. White dropped, didn't like the coverage, and acted immediately for positive yards. Believe it or not, one of Pennington's first snaps around this time last year went almost the exact same way which told me we had made the right decision. I remember telling the guys I was watching the game with, "Now theres a veteran who understands the game."

The most negative aspect of yesterday's game was the offensive line. While not horrendous, they weren't blowing anyone off the line of scrimmage. So much for a power running game. Wild Pat here we come.

Great thread. All good assessments IMO.

everybody gets jacked in this game even the best of the best... LT will tell you he had his bell rung a number of times... But you are right... it is how you RESPOND to it that tells the truth of a player. He did not hang his head or play tentative or shy away... he put it out of his head the second the play was over... and lined up again and played a VERY nice game.

The best pass rushers in the league are the guys with the shortest memories... They take a lick pat the guy on the head and say... 'Nice one... But let's see you do it again'. They don't get burned the same way twice and prove that even when you stop them... You can't really stop them.

The truth is Wake played his best AFTER the hit... A very good sign.

I'm sure the coaches took notice of how he responded after the hit more than the hit itself. I know I did.

Well, basing an opinion on last night's game, sure. But come on...

Come on? This was VD's first preseason game. I don't care how he played. It was his first preseason game. Talk to me at the end of the season.

I read on another thread people actually worried about Ronnie...HE HAD 4 CARRIES. Ronnie shouldn't even be playing in preseason! LT had his first preseason carries last week for the first time IN YEARS. Some things I read on this site are un-freaken-real.

Hartline just has the look of a bigtime (yea, BIGTIME) WR to me. The kid has the total package, big fast quick great routes soft hands and VERY bright. Seriously, what's NOT to like? And furthermore, why won't this kid develop into a very good player? I see no evidence to the contrary. He's also got swagger and he's tough...

Wake is a very impressive athlete and he showed good intensity last night. After getting knocked on his arse he bounced right up and played hard. I liked what I saw from him and think he's a player in this league.
