This team is very well coached, yesterday on the game they showed a stat that I just could not believe. This team is among the best on the NFL on drop passes (just 1), penalties, and turnovers given, all of them represent the mental state of the team, which is very GOOD.

I think the reason we have just 1 drop is correlated with the lack of arm strenght of Chad Pennington, the same thing we were complaining about him, has resulted in a very low rate of droped passes, actually close to cero. I remember that I saw a clip in which Walsh was showing Montana to throw a catchable ball, and he told Montana that velocity isn't good if your receiver is compromised on catching a dificult pass, but as we know, Montana was a master on making good decisions and throwing very catchable balls, he never had a Marino type of skills but he was very efficient, and that reminds me of Chad Pennington.

I think on the offensive side we are becoming a very good team, our running game should improve once we find ways of exploting the skills of our OL. I am really impresed by the play of Jake Long on his first year, there is no doubt that at least we have found a solid LT. But what I saw of Satele and Smiley yesterday, made me think that we may have something special on that side of the OL, we are a few blocks away of having constant performances like on the SD game.

Now, I am really concerned about the defense, and I am not talking about that inconsistent secondary that we have, I am taking about the run defense that let almost every RB have his way, and the only reason we are not on the bottom of the league on this category is because other teams were throwing the ball to catch us, or because they saw our secondary was very weak, but if we take aside the NE game, I did not see a single strong performance by our DL and LB's stopping the run.

I think the reason of this is that we need a young NT that can complement Ferguson and a ILB that attacks with vision (like Thomas did for us), Channing and Ayodele are very slow on reacting at direction changes and seem to tackle on a safe mode, instead of atacking holes and generate plays for loss. I think that next year we should pay a lot of attention on stopping the run. But one thing is for sure... coach Sparano will learn to make better decisions on gameday, he already has done an excellent job at coaching the players. Once he gets it, watch out cause this team is going to be SPECIAL.
