What I noticed this week more so, is Tannehill's decision making and him making more decisive quckier decisions. How refreshing was this to see Tannehill, make a read or two and throw the ball? I know the line wasn't always the best, but how many times earlier in the year would we see tannehill hold on to the ball too long or be a little indecisive? He seemed less hesittant against the pats, and got the ball out of his hand and made nice throws. It feels great seeing him progress before our eyes and seeimg his development. I was just wondering if others noticed this from Tannehill against the Pats?

Maybe the struggles with protection from the O-line forced him to simply be more decisive. The team's negative could have helped in his personal development. I thought that he looked a lot more comfortable.

I noticed it too. It's like the game slowed down big time for him and he was able to make good reads. Had great poise.

Him beating the Patriots was HUGE for the team and his personal progression... Great game by Tannehill!

Yes he seems more confident in his decision making and reads which is great. Less hesitant.

I noticed this weeks ago. Too many people have been hating on the guy to notice until we finally beat the Pats.

You can tell that something has clicked with him. Just a small thing I thought was really evident was the confidence he's showing. He's stepping up the pocket and throwing the ball with more zip. The TD to Wallace was a prime example of that and he did it a couple of other times too. The dinks are still there but he's definitely more confident throwing 15/20+ yard passes.

He's also very good at changing his arm motion. The pass to Clay for the 4th down conversion he throws it almost side arm as the defender has blocked the natural pass with the block attempt. He also checks down where he raised his arm above jumping defenders a couple of times. He's just seeing everything much clearer IMO. The pleasing aspect I guess is that he did against the Pats under severe pressure with Miami's aspirations.

Future's golden.

Considering how raw he was coming in - and that he went out almost immediately during the jest game2 last season, in terms of the strides he's making, not too shabby for only having 29hours of On Job Training so far - a lot of it under pretty adverse conditions eh?

Most impressive aspect is he's saving his best throws for the most vital situations. Like the Bengals game when he was sacked quickly on our final possession of regulation but then rescued the game with great downfield throws. Or the scramble play hitting Gibson in stride against the Ravens. It was in stride, regardless if Gibson senselessly left his feet. I think that play was also 3rd or 4th down. Last week against New England he saved the final possession of the first half with a terrific third down pass deep in our own territory. If we are down 10-0 or worse at halftime we aren't pulling out that game. Then the 3rd and 17 play at the end of the game was absolutely necessary. Otherwise we punt and Brady needs one or two first downs to end the game. We're out of time outs regardless.

Tannehill needs to become more greedy and ruthless. When you make a decisive play like that, the defense sags and the next play has a chance to be special also. Far too often he makes a fantastic play and then reverts to mediocre again for several plays.

Another positive of Tannehill is that his worst throws are difficult to intercept. He doesn't lop stupid passes down the middle, like Stafford to end the game last night. Tannehill at his worst is slightly off target on quick line drive darts. Invariably there are 2-3 of those in each game. But they are difficult to intercept given the velocity and that they are off target. The defender invariably cuts in front and gets a hand or two on it, but it bounces harmlessly to the turf.

Look at his stats in 2:00 situations at the end of the 1st and 2nd halves. Stellar.

Easily the most encouraging thing for me is how he performs in the 2 min drill...

He's always due for a couple of those WTF?! throws but overall we've definitely seen a ton of progression out of him especially in the past 5 or so games.

I always cringed when Henne was in the 2 min drill

I don't think people appreciate just how quickly Tannehill has to get the ball away to ensure that the offensive line performances of the first 6-7 games are not repeated. He has been forced to play decisively, which is better sometimes and (like on the pick 6 in Pittsburgh) the blame for negative plays sometimes. It's almost impossible not to improve on the line's overall performance this year that necessitated a quick throw philosophy, and Tannehill is going to be all the better in future years (when the line should be better) for it.

Alot of those plays are by design as well so kudos to the coaching staff for making proper adjustments but RT certainly deserves praise as well
