and our backup whoever it might be had an outstanding preseason.

Would you want Daunte to play against the Steelers??

Or take a chance with the backup and allow Daunte another week to heal, get in real practice time, etc.?

I sit him for 2 weeks. Ill let my backup play even if he didnt have a good preseason

option 1- Let him play, he reinjures himself, out rest of season+ 1/2 nxt season

option1 modified- let him play, he struggles to get back into things, we lose 3-4 games waiting fro him to get his rythem back.

option2- sit him and let him practice to get back in the swing of things

you cant say sit him so he dosent get hurt. if hes cleared to play he should play

I agree, if cleared to play he should play, especially in a prime time opener. He isnt getting paid to ride the pine if he is cleared to play.

My guess is that if he sits, it's because he needs more time and if he plays, it's because he's ready to go...Saban won't play him until he's ready, that means both physically and mentally (in sync with the team).

Preseason means nothing....at all......nothing....

But remember, Saban may sit him cause he might get worried about getting injured again just like last year with ronnie brown

If he is cleared to play, you play Daunte no question. Remember back in 2000, when Huard played the whole preseason and Fiedler played like a few snaps in the final preseason game? Fiedler started the regular season the next week.

What I am trying to say is that preseason really means nothing, and you put the better player on the field.

I definitely remember. Fiedler threw 3 picks in that last preseason game against the Saints.

I agree the best player starts. Not sure if it was Fiedler.

Culpepper will be fine he is on a good football now.

If he is cleared he starts.

If Dante is 100% healthy, I play him tomorrow against the Steelers. He's a pro-bowler and in almost the same system. I think he can throw a pass to the left to CC and then one to the right to McMike and then hand off to Ronnie just fine.

I wouldn't play him until he's had (at the very least) 1 or 2 practices with the offense. If he could get in a practice, and I (being Nick) felt comfortable with what I saw of him, then it's on. Timing with the receivers is very important. Even though he knows the system, he probably wouldn't be exactly on the same page with them unless they practiced together. 1 or 2 practices ain't much, but still.....

Play him but establish the running game! I think Mularkey is going to be running a more of a run first offense but if Culpepper is not ready lets try and cram it down Pitsburghs throats!
