Peace out
I think this would be pretty cool actually.
By open seeding do you mean based in the records as opposed to the division Winners?Geographically I suppose that makes some sense, but if you're going to go that far why not get rid of divisions altogether? Teams like the Colts and Pats get cakewalks to the playoffs year after year because they're in weak divisions. Bill Simmons just suggested something along the lines of implementing some type of format where every team faces every other team in the league over the course of two seasons. That seems like a more even proposition than the Colts getting to breeze through the Titans/Texans/Jaguars six times a season while the NFC West bludgeon themselves into oblivion. Then make it open seeding like the NBA just did. The 7-8-1 Carolina Panthers should not have been hosting a home playoff game to the 11-5 Arizona Cardinals.
this will never happen. the NFL is about tradition, they aren't breaking up Miami w/ NYJ, Buf and NE, they aren't breaking up Dallas w/ NYG, Wash and Philly. They aren't breaking up the Pitt/Bal rivalry, etc...
Jesus Junc. Did you miss the part where it said WHAT IF? My God. Try and not take everything so seriously. It's ok to imagine and have a little fun. Yesh.
I am just discussing the topic, your "what if" could mean many things. there was no need for a response like this based on my post.
If you wanted to discuss the topic at hand you would have given your thoughts on how interesting the new rivalries would be, or how it would make it more accessible to fans to go to more games, or the travel times between rivals would be cut down, or how the NFC North is the only division that didn't change. You didn't even make an attempt to entertain those ideas. You just shot it the down without giving it a second thought.
London getting a team coming and possibly two LA teams in the near future.

You say these things will never happen, but do you remember that the Atlanta Falcons were once in the NFC WEST? I think the NFL is going to have to do realignment if the Rams move back to LA, and you also could see a team in London being added to the AFC East or NFC East, which means a team like the Dolphins could very well be moved to the AFC South or NFC South.
I would keep the NFC North as is, since they have the oldest team rivalries and it just makes sense geographically to keep Chicago, Green Bay, Minny and Detroit where they are. The Phins had a traditional rivalry with the Baltimore Colts for many years, and then Irsay moved the team in the middle of the night to Indy, and they were put in a different division. These things happen....gotta change with the times Junc!!! P.S., I feel dirty for saying this, but I might just root for your Jets this weekend against the Cheatriots.
