I think this would be pretty cool actually.

I like it too. We would quickly form new rivalries with the other Florida teams and it makes a lot more sense.

I've known a couple of people, including some on here, who feel strongly about this.

Still not sold on the idea, no matter how much common sense there is to it. On top of losing the rivalries, theres the practical matter of playing against the Bucs, Jags, and Falcons every year. Sure, in the short term it would be pretty sweet. But Ryan has a couple more years in him and the other two teams have fascinating prospects at quarterback.

Geographically I suppose that makes some sense, but if you're going to go that far why not get rid of divisions altogether? Teams like the Colts and Pats get cakewalks to the playoffs year after year because they're in weak divisions. Bill Simmons just suggested something along the lines of implementing some type of format where every team faces every other team in the league over the course of two seasons. That seems like a more even proposition than the Colts getting to breeze through the Titans/Texans/Jaguars six times a season while the NFC West bludgeon themselves into oblivion. Then make it open seeding like the NBA just did. The 7-8-1 Carolina Panthers should not have been hosting a home playoff game to the 11-5 Arizona Cardinals.

By open seeding do you mean based in the records as opposed to the division Winners?

this will never happen. the NFL is about tradition, they aren't breaking up Miami w/ NYJ, Buf and NE, they aren't breaking up Dallas w/ NYG, Wash and Philly. They aren't breaking up the Pitt/Bal rivalry, etc...

Jesus Junc. Did you miss the part where it said WHAT IF? My God. Try and not take everything so seriously. It's ok to imagine and have a little fun. Yesh.

I am just discussing the topic, your "what if" could mean many things. there was no need for a response like this based on my post.

If you wanted to discuss the topic at hand you would have given your thoughts on how interesting the new rivalries would be, or how it would make it more accessible to fans to go to more games, or the travel times between rivals would be cut down, or how the NFC North is the only division that didn't change. You didn't even make an attempt to entertain those ideas. You just shot it the down without giving it a second thought.

travel is not a big deal, these guys travel 1st class.
opposing fans being able to go to more games isn't a big deal.

I apologize but I know the reality of it. the league does not want to change, the only way we see any change is if the raiders and Charegrs share a stadium in LA then the Chargers will probably go to the NFC and Seattle will come back to the AFC. Other than that I would be shocked if we see changes. You really want a division w/ Jax and TB over NYJ and NE/Buf? Miami has so much history w/ the teams in their division. you want to throw that away to cut down on travel time?

London getting a team coming and possibly two LA teams in the near future.

I don't expect we will see a London team any time soon(in the next decade). I think they will continue to play multiple games a year there(and in other Countries) but I don't think we will see a team call London their full time home.

The AFC should flip Indy (S to N), the Ravens (N to E), & Miami (E to S).

In the NFC, Dallas & Carolina could swap or Dallas goes to the west, Rams go to the south, & Charlotte goes to the east.

Its Geographically viable, would save $, & traditions like rules are made to be broken.

You say these things will never happen, but do you remember that the Atlanta Falcons were once in the NFC WEST? I think the NFL is going to have to do realignment if the Rams move back to LA, and you also could see a team in London being added to the AFC East or NFC East, which means a team like the Dolphins could very well be moved to the AFC South or NFC South.

I would keep the NFC North as is, since they have the oldest team rivalries and it just makes sense geographically to keep Chicago, Green Bay, Minny and Detroit where they are. The Phins had a traditional rivalry with the Baltimore Colts for many years, and then Irsay moved the team in the middle of the night to Indy, and they were put in a different division. These things happen....gotta change with the times Junc!!! P.S., I feel dirty for saying this, but I might just root for your Jets this weekend against the Cheatriots.

they made the moves at the last realignment b/c they had to w/ a 32nd team entering the league and unbalanced divisions at the time. Atlanta also didn't have a great historical rival like Miami has. the colts were always out of place in our division, the rivalries were NYJ/Mia, Buf/Mia, NE/NYJ, etc... Indy was never really a part of that. it was easy to move them.

I would be shocked if they moved a team like Miami w/ great rivalries w/in our division. the only way I see anything happening any time soon is if the Raiders and Chargers move to LA but that is only b/c they would have to do something.

I hope we win, I am anxious to see the game. I think we match up as well as a team can w/ the NE O. I just hope Skrine is able to play, if he's out that is a huge loss but we can still compete. we need the D to step up and Fitz to play like he did last week not the way he did the first month and we'll have a chance.
