What if: NFL rearrangement of divisions and conferences

this will never happen. the NFL is about tradition, they aren't breaking up Miami w/ NYJ, Buf and NE, they aren't breaking up Dallas w/ NYG, Wash and Philly. They aren't breaking up the Pitt/Bal rivalry, etc...

NFL is more about money than tradition. if it would create more revenue, they'd do it in a heartbeat. screw tradition if they are making more money.

on the other side, if you want to talk about tradition, you would still have the rivalries. it would just be once every 2 years. lol

a dolphins-Jags rivalry isn't going to make more money than dolphins-Jets.

that is interesting. if they ever did realign and move around some rivalries what about designating a primary rival that plays 1 game a year and they alternate home games every year. Hypothetically Miami moves to the south but we play you every year and then a secondary rival would be Buffalo. you play them every 2 years, etc... fun to discuss but I don't think we'll see a big change any time soon.

NOW you're getting it. Kinda. Your problem is, and it is your problem not the NFL's, you don't want to let go of the past. I will agree that it would suck to see the old rivalries go away it certainly didn't kill football when the Colts left the AFC East nor did it kill the Seahawks when they left the AFC West when they realigned them into the current divisions.

the Colts were not part of the rivalries in the AFC East, Seattle had a little more tradition in the AF West but they were so bad for so long no one cared when they left. If Miami left the AFC East people would care.

the best rivalries in the NFL(at the time they were discussing realignment in the early 00s) were:

(in no particular order):
NYJ-Mia
NYJ-NE
Mia-Buf
NYG-Dal
NYG-Phi
Dal-Was
Bal-Pitt
Cle-Pitt
Cin-Cle
Den-KC
Oak-Den
Oak-KC
SD-Oak
SL-SF
Chi-GB
Chi-Det
Chi-Min

they kept all those teams together

travel is not a big deal, these guys travel 1st class.
opposing fans being able to go to more games isn't a big deal.

I apologize but I know the reality of it. the league does not want to change, the only way we see any change is if the raiders and Charegrs share a stadium in LA then the Chargers will probably go to the NFC and Seattle will come back to the AFC. Other than that I would be shocked if we see changes. You really want a division w/ Jax and TB over NYJ and NE/Buf? Miami has so much history w/ the teams in their division. you want to throw that away to cut down on travel time?

We just want NE out of the division

Do you know a guy who knows a guy who can take him out?
