What if Ricky...

that doesnt worry you guys? that the flake as good as he is, is expected to be better than the guaranteed 22 million number 2 overall pick. i hope ronnie gets in there and tears it up. i dont want to see ricky hitting seams that ronnie doesnt even see, it wont make me very comfortable with that situation

Ricky was never a flake as far as performance on the field. He had over 3200 yds rushing and 28 TDs (I think) during his two year stint with us. If you want to talk about off-field o.k., but when they both bring it on the field; there's is a very good chance that Ricky can beat out Ronnie Brown right now.

GOOD QUESTION!!! Saban has always said that he will put the best players on the field that will give us a chance to win ball games. If Ricky is better by leaps and bounds, as you put it; he will get the bulk of the carries this year.

Doing this will no doubt be a win/win situation for the Fin organization. Here's why I say that. Ricky's contract is very, very cap-friendly for us, thanks to his behavior last year. We showcase him for a season, and he shows the NFL that he is the real deal and next off-season teams who are RB desperate will be blowing the phone lines up trying to work out a trade with us. The good thing about the trade, which should yield a high pick is he's still under contract (a cheap one), which would make it easy to move him for a high pick and we can move on with a more experience Ronnie Brown next year and not miss a beat.

I don't think Ricky will be leaps and bounds over Ronnie. Ronnie is a very good RB, but he's young and he will learn a lot his first year in the NFL. I was just giving you a scenario to your question.

And maybe with that draft pick we can get a Quarterback

im concerned with what this will do to ronnie and the team. we all seem to agree ricky is trade bait. if he is better than ronnie which is a good possibility, but still an unknown at this point, and we trade him away, dont you think that will have a negative impact on the team. i hope it isnt a deterrent for ronnie, and divide the locker room, like the ricky situation has divided us the fans

it wont have a negative impact bc everyone knows that Ricky can't be trusted.

IT goes back to the old saying, "Fool me once, Shame on you. Fool me twice, Shame on me."

who would trade a decent pic at the end of this year for a guy that only wants to play one more year? i know i wouldn't.

i predict ricky plays 2 seasons with us...unless we cant afford both ronnie and ricky next year...otherwise why not keep 2 badass rb's ?

im not on the ricky side, but that isnt the point, i dont wanna turn this into that type of argument. you cant ignore rickys talent though, he was the best in the biz in 02. if there is a noticable dropoff, do you guys think it will put any added pressure on ronnie?

Don't trust ricky. He's only playing for the money and he's getting old. Most rbs only last until their 29-30 he's 28

Am I the only one who wants ricky to end his career (presumably for good this time) in miami? I hope he plays two more years, fulfills his obligations to this team and has his 8.6 million dollar debt cleared. By then, ronnie will be ready to carry the load after two years of splitting carries with (and learning from) ricky. Then we can all wish ricky the best in whatever his future endeavors may be.

DUH...im sure ronnie's not in it for the money as he waits for his 22 million dollar guaranteed money

:shakeno:

that would be great if everything went according to your plan. but what if by year 3 we are on the cusp of the superbowl...do we want to keep ricky around then

All players play for the money. That's why they all want the best deal possible. As for Ricky's age. He is only 28 and coming off a long rest. He will be very fresh. He has also never sustained any serious injury.

If you depend on Ricky, you deserve exactly what you get.

Ricky has two years of good production left and ronnie has seven

If Ricky can get his heart in the right place, he's got more than 2 years left in the tank. I'm concerned too that Ricky will outplay Ronnie and Ronnie's value will drop considerably... esp for the $$ that comes with him

i must have some weird P.O.V.'s cuz it always takes me like 2 or 3 pages to find someone who agrees with me lol
