http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/2007/06/0003260607.html As of right now, the Miami Dolphins ' plan is to have newly anointed quarterback of the future John Beck gradually work his way into a starting role. The idea is for Beck to be groomed behind veteran Trent Green and compete alongside fellow youngster Cleo Lemon, eventually settling into the No. 1 job one or two years down the line.

damn he'll almost be 30 but i dunno lately everything the dolphins do i've always been a little worried i mean think about it...we had pornstache as the HC and we traded basically all our picks for ricky (i'm not knocking that because he's a beast), then jay fiedler stays in way too long, then we fire the stache and hire jim bates and we win then we let him go to get satan and then he has one decent year and then a bad year and up and leaves leaving all dolfans wondering when the **** are we goin to be in the playoffs again! man i hope john beck plays this year much like Jay cutler and straight up balls the entire league, but i' not holding my breath or setting myself up for disappointment like every year lately...and don't lie all of you know what i'm talking about. haha.

That was my suspician all along. Beck would be 28 (if he waits 2 years) and that is a great age for QB's to do well. He could easily have 8 to 10 years of great football left in him when he takes the starting role.

I think he'll start next year at age 27. He can have a long and successful career with the Dolphins. He's is very mature and levelheaded and unless I miss my guess, extremely coachable and bright. He has that accuracy and I saw him chuck a ball 70 yards on YouTube.

You know...

Beck commented one time that he didn't shave until he was around twenty years old. You have to wonder if his current age is only his chronological age, but is physically younger.

I'll be a bit surprised if Beck isn't ready to start by next year.

We'll see if Green still has it this year, that is still up to serious debate. If not, Beck may get some playing time this year.

Given that he was out of ball for two years, you have to figure he is, in fact, younger than his years physically. At any rate, he still needs to mature...Even Steve Young didn't break out until after 4-5 yrs in the league...

i am going into this season thinking whatever happens will be ok with me. that is to say, if green has a good/great year, then we should have a pretty good team and possibly make it to the playoffs. if he comes in and looks like he has lost it, or gets injured early on, then we put beck in and let him grow in the system. seems like a win/win to me.

either we do well, develop our QB of the future, or see that beck doesn't have it and draft a QB next year (brohm [no thanks], woodson, or brennan).

Becks playing time is going to depend on what Trent Green does this year, if he takes us to the playoffs and we win a game in the playoffs or something like that I can see him starting for us again next year, if not I think that we might be Beck towards the end of the season this year and then we'll see him start next year.
