Im just saying what if here....

What if we dont trade patrick surtain, and we dont trade down and we draft Alex Smith? Will we be able to sign him with our current salary cap thats in tact?

Tom Condon, a hard-line negotiator, is pushing for a contract in line with the deal he got for 2004 No. 1 overall pick Eli Manning with the New York Giants, with that said do you think he will come down on the contract if hes drafted at #2 or stick with the same proposal he issued to the 49ers?

This is going to be very interesting.

They have to clear about 4m for the rookie cap. Not very tough to do.

Oh yeah that right, that can be done with a click of a button

Well I could clear 1.9m by trading/waiving David Bowens. Then I could
do a simple restructure of Bookers 2.9m base freeing up another 1.4m. Then I could shave 500K each from Zach and JT's deals with another simple restructure.

and what about the 4 other rookies that we draft, chances are we will sign 1, 2 maybe 3 of them.

Take a look at oaks rookie cap last year it was 4m or so. I could get the exact figure if you want but I'm within 500K. That's what Miami needs to sign all it's picks.

Dont worry, we will have all of our draft picks sign. So dont be worried about the signings of our rookies.

If we can't sign our first rounder, I will be laughed out of New Jersey by Eagles fans..

No, Condon's contract demands weren't necessarily for Smith, but for the #1 overall pick. The #1 pick this year gets incrementally more than the #1 pick last year. Condon negotiated that contract last year and knows what he got for Manning and how much he should get for the same pick this year.

If Smith doesn't go first, all bets are off.
