This is a completely hypothetical situation.

What if sage starts next week and he plays well, and continue to plays well. Then the next thing we know sage is our qb. Possibly even our franchise qb. What if this happens? To think that Sage as been on our roster for a couple years now. It'd be very ironic to think all the years the qb we've been searching for has been on our roster unnoitced.
 
i thought the exact same... then what happens to Lemon?


Fact is, with the fact of Gus' poor play and him beeing no spring Chicken, We should see what Sage can do.
That's what I love about Saban, guy isn't afraid of change...

Me too. I was happy to see some wins early under Gus, but he's just not a long term answer. He'd be a great backup to help a younger guy and maybe that was Saban's plan all along. How could he have known at the time that Feeley would be so bad this year? Plus, what were the chances of Gus making it through a year withoiut getting hurt? Even he said that in pre-season. MAkes more sense of having Gus as a backup. Now all we need to do is figure out who the real deal is. Sage, Lemon, or another guy next year (draft).
But in order to really evaluate anyone, let's get a friggin O-line!
 
I don't think there would be any reason to feel silly about keeping him off the field all this time, as I'm pretty sure he is drastically improved from the player he was. Rushing him in earlier probably would have affected his development. Although I think it's unlikely, I would love to have it turn out that Sage becomes our franchise QB.
 
it would be great, i hope , i really hope sage develops into that dude. Im from VA, i remmeber when the skins had him, he always was in the mix, people calling for him to play, etc... I like Rivers, but if we can use our 1st on another position of need, then do it. After 10 years of solid defense, it is our weak spot now( other than qb)..

No way that happens, Sage starting I mean. Saban would view that as pushing the panic button at week 8. That is too early to gamble the rest of the season. The vets would view this as a lost cause. Play would decline even further (if possible). We'd be 4 and 12 all over again. He'll stick with Frerotte until the team moral is against him starting.

Don't get me wrong, I want Sage in there too. It's just not going to happen this week. Saban is not Wanny and will try to hold this leaking ship together at all costs.
 
It's a nice thought but I dont see it happening. It would be great if it did though and would also tarnish Wanny's reputation a little more (if thats possible).
 
It seems like everytime we put Sage in there he throws a 70 yard pass completion.....I say give him a shot. I don't think Sage is our "Franchise QB" but he should be given a shot....especially if Gus keeps overthrowing receivers.

What was that attack for??? I understand hypothetical just fine. Are we not allowed to disagree with this post?? Where in the TOS does it say he have to pat the person who starts a thread on the back and completely agree with everything he/she said? I was nice and ddin't ridicule another "what if" post. I simple added my thoughts.
 
If Sage would get a chance, and turns into a solid qb for the Dolphins. That would be great! I would be more than happy to admit I was wrong about him, and all those that wanted him to start were right! The Fins could use the high draft picks on other needs then. I just have a feeling though, if he does get to play the TO's and sacks will go up. Hoping I am wrong though!
 
Gus is so horrible I cant believe he started over Feeley. I was at the Buc game, so many open WR that he missed it is unbelievable that he has been in the league as long as he has. Sage, Lemon the parking lot attendant would be a better option. We suck, might as well give another player a chance to improve the team
