After rewatching the game on NFL Rewind, I have something to say about Chad Henne. What impressed me most about him was not that he went 20/26 with 241 yards and two touchdowns, or the big arm, or the big throw to ginn, no. What impressed me most was what he didnt do. He didnt throw interceptions, he didnt make any real risky or bad throws.

There were many times I saw him drop back in the pocket and there was no one open, he could of tried to force it and potentially throw a interception. However, he simply checked down or threw the ball away. I thought this was very impressive.

Thoughts??

After he did that a couple of times I thought he really gained a lot by having Pennington to mentor him for a year, but then I remembered about the pick 6 from his first game.

He is a work in progress. I think there are bound to be bumps in the road but he looked like a ROTY candidate to me on Monday.

I can't wait to see the replay tonight. I love how they add post game interview clips and sideline camera stuff that isn't on the normal games...

Pennington has definitely been valuable in his development as a QB. He has played just as good as Pennington, but with the added threat of the deep ball. I couldn't be more satisfied with him.

Imagine if Henne has the smartness of Pennington and the arm to go with it. Oh my God get this man some receivers! I am sold on Chad Henne.

I was really, really worried about the interception factor going into the game but give a huge amount of credit to the Oline as he had time to throw! Yes Henne played very well and I am assuming the checking down came from riding the bench and watching Penne. I was afraid Henne was going to be hard headed and just attempt to air it out with his big arm

How does Vincent Jackson and Ted Ginn sound with Bess, Camarillo, Hartline and Turner......sounds good to me :rimshot:

What I loved most was that he played against an attacking blitzing defense and he didn't have happy feet and didn't look flustered.

Instead he played with great poise, confidence, and charisma. He looked like a polished veteran, not a Qb playing in his 2nd NFL start. He was in total control.

What most impressed me was his presence and poise. He stood tall in the pocket, stepped into his throws with the pressure coming. He didn't seem bothered or nervous at all when the Jets brought the house. If I didn't know anything about either team, I would think that Henne is a 10 year vet.

Before this game I was pretty nervous about how Henne was going to pan out. And I am far from convinced that he is our next Elite QB, but he made leaps and bounds in the right direction Monday Night. And I have much more confidence in Henne now than a few weeks ago.

Very impressed with Henne's performance. There is no way Pennington would have been able to win the NY game - the throw to Camarillo would have been knocked down and the long bomb to Ginn either underthrown or not attempted at all. While I appreciate Pennington's mentoring of Henne, instilling great work ethic, etc., the future potential of the offense would never have been met with Pennington. I'm sure Henne will have some struggles at times, but if he can play 3/4 as well as he did against NY then we should have a winning season/playoff potential, elite team in next 2-3 years if other holes filled (WR, ILB, safety, CB, NT, TE).

Well half of the board is going to be shocked by Henne's play. Why? Because half of the board was calling for his head after being forced into the SD game. He never was given a chance and half of the board was calling him a wasted pick and calling for Thigpen.

I read all of this crap about him staring down his wideouts as well as not being able to go through is progressions. It was pure crap. You don't start 4 years at a big time program in UOM and be a one trick pony. Henne, while maybe not the next big time NFL qb (only time will tell) is going to be at MINIMUM an middle of the road NFL guy who plays in the league 8+ years IMO. He can get the job done.

Let's hope the unfair calling out of Henne doesn't happen again later down the road when he has a bad game or two. It is going to happen as that is part of the maturation process.

I am very pro Henne having watched him at Michigan all 4 years but still, it was one game. Let's see how he progresses over the remainder of the season. I am confident he is the future but there will be stumbling blocks along the way. Although I don't expect a let down, I am very interested to see his performance against N.O after this solid start he has made.

In his post game interview with ESPN he mentioned not trying to make mistakes like he did in the San Diego game. Obviously he has learned well from it.

what i think is the most ironic is the fact that the former starting quarterback from Michigan is passing to a very talented Ted Ginn Jr. from Ohio State University. did anyone else notice that?

If Henne can do that on that stage with sexy rexy's vicious D, then I gotta think this kid is on his way.

I just want to see him in NY and NE on the road before I get a more consistant read.

But lets face it, He has poise, an arm, accuracy, and steps up into his throws nice. The thing he needs to work on a little is the Penny lob. But second thought, I dont think Marino had a lob ball at all.

BTW, the screen pass to Ricky had Zip.

I also noticed on the Ginn bomb that he waited an extra second before unloading. Perfectly timed.
