whats better getting the extra 7th rounder for wes or letting him get his money and giving the pats some salary cap issues?

I was annoyed when they got him for just a 2nd, but as the FINS we shouldnt let them off that easily. The reason the pats never have problems with the cap, because teams like us take a GD 7th over making our division rivals deal with some cap issues...

Id have rather seen wes get his money.

A second and a seventh is great for a guy the level of Welker there is no downside.

The dolphins should draft the rights to Jeff Samardzja in the 7th round in case his baseball career falls apart.

The Pats still have to give him the money. Just because we tendered him at $1.3M doesn't mean that's what the Pats are paying him.

Say thanks to Wayne....he brokered the final deal....because of a poison pill added by the Dolphins.

I will be the first to say that I loved Welker but any GM would trade him for a 2nd and a 7th. He's a number 3 wide receiver. Yes he had good numbers last year but he was the slot receiver in an offense that threw short passes every down. The offense was horrific to say the least. So welker caught a few passes but really it didnt help the offense. As far as I am concerned Cam can get rid of anybody on offense except Brown. What have we done in the past 5 years? 14 pts a game will not cut it in the NFL.

Everyone is upset because of the Patriots to not have to give him 38 million but if you read the details he was only guaranteed a small percentage meaning after 3 years he could be cut with no impact to the cap. Plus if the fins decided to match that offer I would have killed the management. As much as I like welker he is not worth 6 mil a year, maybe 2.5 a year.

hmm..is this right??

why worry about the patsies....ill take the 7th any day....u never know what that can turn out to be

The Pats 7th round pick is nothing. Its a few spots shy of an undrafted rookie
Right, and recent undrafted rookies who have made their marks w/ us:

Wale' Ogunleye
Wes Welker

Don't discount that extra #7 at all. It's an extra chance to bring in a sleeper. Sometimes, there is strength in numbers in the draft.
