TE projections

TE is a huge need and with Parcells history of drafting TE, it is likely the dolphins use a pick in the first 4 rounds of the draft on a TE

Fred Davis seemed to be the early favorite, being that he falled to the 2nd but my guess is his combine and pro day workouts will keep him in the first round, unless his height is a huge concern which for me it is

I was a big fan of both Martellus Bennett from Texas A&M and Jermichael Finley from Texas. Both are underclassmen that have backgrounds in basketball which intrests me but Im not sure about their blocking abilities but would think both will be taken in the first 4 rounds. The fact that Finley was a redshirt sophmore this year might drop his stock, but like Davis, I expect the combine and pro days to raise their stock.

Lately it seems Kentucky TE Jacob Tamme and Tennessee TE Brad Cottom are leading canidates to be the sleeper TE pick in the mid to late rounds. Don't know much about them other than what you can read in bio's but in all the TE class seems to be stocked with potential.

John Carlson is the best of the rest and the Cowboys once drafted a Notre Dame TE with Fasono so they might go that direction in the 2nd if he's available

Other possible first day selections at TE: Martin Rucker, Dustin Keller, Kellen Davis

Your thoughts on the possibilty of selecting a TE and who, please dont mention Joe Flacco

I definitely don't see Parcells trying to rebuild by drafting a TE in the first couple of rounds, so most of your candidates should be crossed off the list. I could see drafting John Carlson or possibly Brad Cottom (if he shows good pass catching and route running skills at the combine) in the 4th round if either is still there, but most TE's contribute by their 2nd year if not right away, and we're at least 3 years away from anything significant.

I expect Parcells to draft LB's, NT, DE's, a CB and on the offense his priorities will be a QB, T, and a WR. At least one at each of those positions will be drafted (or added as an undrafted free agent). Then we're likely to add G, DE, LB, CB/S in free agency.

Ireland is going to target the trenches and LB's first, and if he cannot fill those holes with a sensible candidate he'll look at those other positions. TE is just too far down the list to use a first or second round pick on it. Heck, we'll likely draft a new starting QB before we pick a TE in the top two rounds I think.

I just posted this in another similar thread. I lean toward Tamme with the 1st pick of the 4th round (hopefully he is still there), from Draft Scout:
