You'd be surprised but I believe the Dolphins are still making money. I read somewhere to the tune of 20 Mill last year.
He also makes money with the Stadium as he collects a nifty rent from the Dolphins. Believe me, the guy does not lose a dime.

And yes, owning a franchise is mostly about padding your resume. The guy gives a hoot if the Dolphins play in Miami or in LA.

The Dolphins org has a really bad situation with how much debt is being leveraged right now, though I think a lot of that is due to the structure Ross has in place for actually completing the purchase of the team.
