I get taking it easy this year with free agency and stockpiling draft picks for next year but how does one team consistently leave itself with so many holes?
Is it overestimating their talent at certain spots like corner and OG last year or it is just horrible roster management? How do you go into this draft with almost no talent at CB, very little at DE, no real experience or depth at RB, the same crappy guards you had last year, LB's who consistently miss games every season and who aren't that productive and no real FS. Love R Jones but he's a strong safety, in the box defender. from what i've read about our new S from the Lions he's also a SS
why didn't Tannenbaum or Grier make a play for one of the top guards in free agency? That's the only way this line gets fixed. It's not going to be fixed by a rookie and it needs to happen this year, not in year 3 of some over-drafted converted guard's career. They had the money to pay Brooks or Boone and know how bad the guard play has been. We heard it for weeks running up to the free agent period.
They choose now to be fiscally responsible? after years of over drafting slugs like Dallas Thomas and watching him go "Ole" every time he lines up against a superior opponent
They also could have signed a serviceable guy at corner and not make that a must spot in round 1 but again I guess Tannenbaum missed the idea that you need 22 quality starters to play
I just don't understand why the team couldn't fill ONE obvious hole before April.
