Is Nolan leaving the team THAT big of an impact?
Some consider him a re-tread. The team DID start 0-7 last year & Brady DID torch the Dolphins in Week 1.

I dont know- our d was decent, but never really made big plays or anything

I am worried about putting Bowles in there, no matter what respect he gets from the players- it would be the first time he is calling plays, and when the head coaches speciality is offense, that is a problem.

I would love for us to go after a vet

Davis barely played in that first game which did hurt a lot plus with the lockout its harder to work on the defensive side of the ball than the offensive side when you can't meet with coaches (an offense can run plays together but how does a defense prepare?). I thought Nolan was a tad overrated as the defense seemed to fold in big moments all season and didn't take that next step after a really successful 10-11 season.

I want someone from the Ravens coaching staff with their philosophy and complex zone blitz scheme.

Does Pagano have an understudy?

I agree. Nolan's defense was okay during the first 3 quarters or so, but always fell flat when the game was on the line. They never looked good for an entire 60 minutes.

Nolan clearly didn't want to be here and his unit's performance reflected that.

Time for someone that wants to coach here and would be dedicated to his post.

Nolans defense was solid but we hardly ever created turnovers and we also seemed to give up a good amount of big plays.

Nolan still one of best defensive coordinators in league. Lets not play the he's not here so he is not that good card. Our players just didnt perform well enough still was 15th in defense this year and top 10 last year and as for not wanting to be here who knows. He was smart to leave for Atlanta though, I mean cmon we interviewed Bowles and did not even look at him. He goes to a playoff team which will be better for his career in long run probably.

he might have just left a playoff team with philbin coming in and atlanta aint nothing special.

philen is coming to a 6-10 and atlanta is in playoffs every year. Atlanta has a top 10 offense that has all of its skill position pieces in place and thier defense was actually ranked higher than ours last year so they may be nothing special like a super bowl team yet but they are a better team than us at this point and should still be damn good next year.
Hopefully we are a playoff team with philben but lets not act like all of sudden we are better than Atlanta.

I remember reading on this site that he lost play calling responsibility mid way through the season (which coincides with the improved defensive play)

I think that is someone taking some small bit of truth like Nolan takings some input or increasing Bowles responsibilities and making it into a flat out fabrication. Do you really think a guy with the experience and success of Nolan would be stripped of playcalling duties for Todd Bowles who has never called plays.
