Over the last few weeks I have let this abomination of a season make me become very critical of the things Tanny is not good at. (Touch passes, fades, some decisions). But Tanny has some great attributes that have served him well in the past, and he does have the ability to catch fire at times. How do the dolphins play more to his strengths? Personally i think when the run him more at the beginning of games it helps him get more into it.

What strategies would you guys use make it work? (Please no excuses about line play, we all know it is bad, but it is what it is.)

They were using him the right way. The coaches have limited what he has been asked to do since he has been here

The problem is our O-line cannot execute and consistently block,

and our defense is absolutely atrocious so he is always behind and forced to pass to play catch up.

Like most other good teams in the NFL, run the ball more (even Aaron Rodgers has a balanced attack) with running backs.

Let him run more. I have a hard time believing he just suddenly decided to stop running the ball. I think he's been coached not to do it. Even if he's not going to run the ball, let him get out of the pocket because he does well at passing on the run when there aren't o-linemen in his face.

Run the ball in a non-shotgun formation. The playaction pass works but not the way they do it. He's gotten sacked too many times when they PA pass in their 1 step dropback play.

Also clone some good OLs from the past and plug them in place of the current group.

ROLL HIM THE F OUT!

Tannehill has legs, and keeping the D off balance by letting him use them should be action #1 to breaking out of the predictable drivel we are seeing out of the offense. Designing some bootleg plays would also help with the abomination of an O-Line we have.

Beyond that, Tannehill NEEDS some plays where his first read is down the field. Hell, the very few times we've seen him do it this season...well, yes he has thrown the ball to an old lady in the 5th row...but we've gotten pass interference penalties whose total yardage have equalled about 8 of the dink and dunk impotent screens and curls.

If I were Dan Campbell, I'd be telling Lazor to take the training wheels off and let Tannehill sink or swim. This team is one play away from 0-4, and the coaches are lame ducks unless something BIG changes. Unleash the beast.

Need to move the launch point. Get him under center. Establish the run. Play action.

Give him a decent running game and most importantly you have to protect him. Pretty much thats the formula required for 90% of QBs in this league to be successful. Only a small percentage can still be successful with a subpar running game and protection.

The way we used him last year. A mix of reads and intermediate passes. 27 TD to 12INT with 4K yds passing is sufficient to be a playoff team. If our D didn't collapse we make a wildcard.

At the least give us/him some damn variety with the formation. Under center, shot gun etc...

Under center PA bootlegs, lots of seams, in cuts and occasional deep go route to keep defense honest. He throws the ball well when he has to throw it hard over the middle of the field, deep go routes any time you get man coverage are almost always good. PI, complete the pass, or at least keep defense honest.

Give him ability to audible first and foremost. More under center or maybe pistol to get rb running down hill get it going maybe. Definitely some option runs and get him outside of the pocket move him around if I'm not mistaken he has a good rating outside pockets where he can see better and use his athleticism as well as help the line.

He's used the right way but he has regressed into some lazy habits like holding the ball FAR to long and causing sacks and has completely forgot how to use his athletic skills to make plays.

From the raiders game last year on, he wasnt having those issues and was doing both very well. And that was behind a line that set a record for sacks!!

He has also gone to relying on landry far to much (the bills knew he would and shut that down) and not letting his play makers make plays down field. CASE IN POINT: That opening play by the jets where brandon marshall rand down the sideline, deep with grimes hanging on his back shoulder and fitzpatrick through the ball to his playmaker and the playmaker MADE THE PLAY!!

TANNY would have never attemted that throw. He knows his weekness and its getting to him. Unless a guy is clearly open down field, he wont do it. And maybe, like the end of last year, they have taken it out or have him limited on big play throws.

But people are just refusing to see, that as of right now, tanny is a big part of this failing offense. Not all of it, but a good portion. Another thing, i do believe in competition. That is the major fire under a players arse. Tanny has no real competitionfor his job. To me, he appears to be a bit lazy right now. Is it the huge money? I dont know. It happens. Everyone is saying that about Suh right now but tanny is immune. Money didnt relax him a bit to much? Again, i dont know, but you cant rule it out anymore than you can any other instant mega zillion dollar player.

This offense was rebuilt for the big play inthe off season and its backfired. The coaches are reeling right now trying to find a quick fix. This line, the left side especially, is not all world, but, they have given tanny plenty of time for the most part but they cant block forever. As far as i know, Douglas hasnt had a sack or penalty yet. Tanny is causing a lot of his own sacks. That has to be addressed.

Not a popular statement i know, but, it SHOULD be apparent to anyone who tivos the games. Several former players in the nfl and coaches on nfl network and espn that tanny is leaving yards and points on the field and his red zone reads, quote, "are head scratching".

Maybe because he knows he has no competition and with his mega bloated salary, hes more than safe and has reverted to his throw short at all costs comfort zone. Campbells light my fire may work, but again, mega mil salary and a lame duck coach may cause shut ears.

I think Chip Kelly's system would be perfect for him and Foles would have been a better fit at QB for us. We should have made that trade.
