What do you guys think is the worst penalty in the NFL....meaning, it is rarely called consistently, or seems to be the most BS call around?

For me it is the Tuck Rule.

I remember there was some weird *** call on Zach Thomas during the Greenbay game..

for me it is roughing the passer. it has good intentions, but it is so over-called nowadays you can't lay a finger on the QB.

while i think you need to protect them to an extent, they are on that field just like every other player.... let them play the damn game. if they are afraid of getting hit, they can play flag football for the local church team.

Yeah, the roughing the passer calls are getting ridiculous...you can't even breath on a QB after he throws it without a flag.

The other call that is really annoying is when the receiver catches it and drops it he has to be "making a footbal move" before they decide he actually had possession, and fumbled it. Who came up with this crap?

i think a lot of chop-block penalties are BS as well.... they even call the incidental ones.

I saw one where the OL fell down, and the linemen next to him was being pressured by an aggressive DE.... the DE went AROUND the upright linemen and fell onto the one that was already on the ground, and they called chop-block....

that was BS because the defender was not blocked into the lineman on the ground.... he ran INTO the guy and fell over. freakin stupid if you ask me.

ah.... and we can't forget the crap that happened to Ellis Hobbs in the AFC Championship game.... pass interference and he wasn't even touching the other player....

the refs said he was "impeding the vision" of the receiver.

WTF? are you serious?

pretty soon they'll start penalizing the defenders for defending the ball. crap. maybe we should just let the offense move freely around the field, eh?

IMO "Roughing the passer" is a gift and a curse all in one. For god's sake ifyou fall into the QB you get called for it. They protect QB's way too much.

easily pass interference... for a penalty that happens at the spot of the ball, so it could be like a 40 yard penalty and **** its very ticky tacky... face guarding is the dumbest reason to ever call pass interference... if a defender doesn't touch the dude but just cause he doesn't play the ball he'll get a penalty, bull****... it should just be dont rough him up and anything goes...

I can't stand pass interference either. I liked it better when it was rarely called, now after every inclomplete pass there is a guy waving his arms looking for a flag.

Roughing the passer and sometimes refs call the most BS calls when it comes to pass interference

there are 2

1. Pass interference when it is a 40-5 yard penalty. I would like the rule if they made it a 15 yard penalty even if it happens 40-50 yards down field unless it is flagrant

2. It's 3rd and 25 and the defence commits holding which is a 5 yard penalty and an AUTOMATIC!!!!!!!!!!!! first down

Illegal use of the hands. It always get called on our DB's, specifcally Andre Goodman.

1.) Roughing the passer: Yes, protect the quarterbacks BUT, giving a guy a 15 yard penalty for brushing the guy is a joke.

2.) Defensive holding: A 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down is a joke. Convert it to a 10 yard penalty but no automatic first down. If it is blatant then call pass interference.

3.) Pass interference: WAY to inconsistent in my opinion. Hand fighting should be allowed. If the pass is underthrown and the corner is looking back at the ball and runs into the reciever it should NOT be P.I. in my opinion.

They should also have 2 levels of pass interference. One should be a 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down. The other should be a spot foul, The spot foul one shouls be called only when, in the judgement of the official, the defender deliberatly stopped the reciever from being able to make a play on the ball. Some of these 40 yard pass interference penalties are simply two guys fighting for position and the official calls it...that is crap.
